Northgate House

Every staff member was friendly and helpful.....I really enjoyed chatting to them all. Room 116 is spacious with a big walk-in shower and a balcony with views of Abbey. Breakfast was very good. Evening menu isn't the biggest, but it was varied and the food freshly cooked and piping hot. Lamb bao buns are gorgeous. Wine list decent and affordable. For the price( considering Breakfast, view, location, parking and room size) it is GREAT value for money.

The room we had was a superior double and for us it was perfect. It was clean and spacious, the staff couldn't do enough for us and the food at breakfast was great. In the evening the buffet food was delicious (hot food) and once again the staff were great. We will return there.

Wonderful stay - only stayed one night. The staff in reception and restaurant were warm and friendly and super helpful with tips and advice on what to see and where to go in the area. Food was amazing. Bed super comfortable. Room spotless and clean. Highly recommend visiting Buckfast. The Abby was incredible (even in the teaming rain) and the steam train. Ride from Buckfast to Totness was nice way to spend a wet afternoon. The Otter and Butterfly place was also fun to visit

Easy to find, plenty of parking. We were greeted by two very friendly receptionists who were very informative. We stayed in room 115, which is a large deluxe double with a balcony. The room was very clean and had all the essentials you needed. Lovely large bathroom with shower & a large bath! Fabulous views from the balcony. The hotel is within the Abbey grounds to its very quiet and tranquil. Breakfast was very good and good value for money. We also enjoyed an evening meal one of the nights, which was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommended this hotel for a restful breakaway. We also visited the south Devon railway which is nearby.

We have visited Buckfast and stayed in Northgate numerous times. This time, we stayed in one of their apartments at the top of the old house. As with their other rooms, this was finished to a very high standard, very clean and comfortable (although the room was plenty big enough for a bigger bed!) The kitchen area was large and well-equipped. Beware that there is no lift to this floor, so but a couple of flights of stairs is not too difficult. Would definitely recommend.

A very enjoyable stay. The bedrooms were spacious and modern but cosy. good breakfast. lovely surroudings and convenient for moors, Totnes and in our case for the plymouth ferries. Staff were very jhelpful. Our first time here but will definitely return.

Myself wanted a restful break away from it all and we luckily stumbled across this hotel, set right next to Buckfast Abbey. Firstly let's look at what is exceptional.. the staff. All very Just so very warm welcoming and utterly committed to giving you the best experience while staying with them. Chloe, the assistant manager is a breezy breath if fresh air who was a joy! If I could steal her to come and work for me I would. The food. Wowser we were not expecting such great food at the restaurant. The restaurants evening food is so very good and very reasonably priced! Bravo to the chef and kitchen staff. Very clean rooms.. Now we did have to change rooms as we were originally placed above the kitchen area and there was a lot of banging. So if you want peace avoid rooms 115 to 118.. you do get access to the balcony from these rooms, which is a massive bonus but for us not worth the noise. We were moved rooms with no fuss at all and placed in a much quieter area of the hotel. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars are these: for us the pillows were way too hard. They gave us both headaches and in the end I ended up using a blanket, provided in the room, as a pillow. The beds are also very hard. Which some of you will love, but not for us. I would have liked to have been able to access our Netflix on the television, as the televisions in the rooms only allow the bare minimum basic free view channels. As we were there to just relax we would have appreciated this option. There are of course personal preferences but vital ones when it comes to my personal score. We would stay there again but would bring our own pillows .

I stayed here for three days with my disabled husband and adult son. The rooms were spotless, warm and comfortable. Our room was extra large with a huge ensuite, adapted for a disabled person. We enjoyed all our meals at Northgate House - they were reasonably priced and tasty. All the hotel staff were genuinely helpful and kind at all times. There was plenty of parking and two free chargers for electric cars. The hotel is within walking distance of the Abbey and grounds. Would definitely stay again.

Very comfortable stay, friendly and helpful staff and lovely setting. We have been to the Northgate on many occasions over the last ten years and always enjoy our stay. There are nice walks in the grounds and further afield. A restaurant is onsite for breakfast and dinner, and there are gift shops in close proximity to the hotel.
