First Hostel

I had a very disappointing experience at this hostel. I booked two beds in a 4-bed shared room, but upon arrival, my partner and I were placed in a room with more people instead. To make things worse, the beds assigned to us were already occupied, leaving us without the accommodations we had reserved and paid for. When we complained to the host, they told us that the room we had booked was under maintenance and that they had decided to move us without even informing or asking us. Frustrated and unhappy with the situation, we decided to leave the hostel, but the host refused to give us a refund, despite the fact that they failed to provide what we had booked. The lack of organization and disregard for guests' reservations was unacceptable. If you’re looking for a reliable and well-managed place to stay, I strongly advise against booking this hostel.

Things that you should know before booking this hostel: - if you book First Hostel chances are that you will be transferred to First Hostel Bucur 21 without your knowledge. It is downgrade in terms of hygiene, rooms and common areas. - hostel is recruiting center for religious cult (Jehovah's witnesses). You will be harassed and pestered by their "soldiers" so be aware and stay safe. - check in system is very unsafe. Anyone who knows hack how to enter the gate can enter the facilities because entrance door is wide open all day long and reception is empty because both hostels have the same receptionist who is working very few hours (14:00-20:00). Bottom line is, hostel is cheap and the overall experience for the guests is cheap. Stay safe, don't ruin your holiday because some people have low moral and poor work ethics.

Me and my friend booked this place and it’s a good option for a cheap hostel with relative proximity to Bucharest city centre. However when my friend left his review on *********** (which of course is his opinion) he was messaged on his personal phone number by Adrian the owner who decided to call me and my friend ‘Karen’s’ for wanting to stay in the same room. Amongst other quite rude comments made to my friend! On the 11th July roughly 10 days prior to arriving I contacted this hostel on *********** asking if we could be co-located. In the message he sent my friend he denies ever receiving a message. He also said that we arrived during the evening time when everyone else had already checked in, I checked my call log to see what time I had to ring the hostel to get into the building which clocked in at 11:22, not evening time at all. The man who appeared to be working the front desk was rude on both the phone and in person. When I called him the first time he told me he had sent me a code and room number. He hasn’t, I then called again and was rudely told that I had received them when I clearly hadn’t. In fact, I actually didn’t receive my message until the 26th, 3 days after my stay was supposed to finish! Me and my friend decided against staying here and checked into a nearby hotel for a reasonable cost. I’m sure this hostel offers plenty and most may have an issue free stay but I wouldn’t personally recommend staying here and look forward to seeing what sarcastic reply I receive from Adrian the owner. I will leave a few positives I noticed while there as it would be unfair to list only negatives. - Air conditioning was working. - Low cost. - Not far from city centre at all.

+Modern decor +Cheap +Short walk to the metro +Friendly staff -Not cleaned regularly. Hairs and dirt in the showers and in the rooms. -Building needs general maintenance completed, broken showers etc. -The hostel feels unsafe. There seems to be lots of long term guest rather than travellers, not very social. -Although friendly the staff aren’t present.

Bucharest was the final destination for me and my friends back packing trip through Europe and we had trouble when it came to checking in to this hostel as the host had supposedly sent us and email with the code to get in when he hadn't and gave us attitude over the phone when we said we hadn't revived the email. When we finally arrived in the reception the receptionist behind the desk had put me and my friend in separate rooms, we requested that we have a bunk bed in the same room as this is what we done in every hostel in every destination on our trip. There was room in the hostel for me and friend to stay in the same room but the receptionist refused to move my friend to the same room as me despite them having room. The attitude we received from the owner via email and the receptionist in person was enough to put us of staying in the hostel so me and my friend bailed and got a cheap hotel instead. It looked like a decent hostel but the the people who we encountered here ruined it. Following writing the review above on *********** I’ve received a ‘lovely’ text message from the owner as seen in the photos I’ve attached to this review. This shows the type of people who are running this place… Admitting calling there guests names like ‘Karen’. Very childish behaviour from people who are supposed to be running a business. I can also confirm that me and my friend arrived at 11:22am in the morning not in the evening not in the evening as the owner states. Within regards to requesting that me and my friend stay in the same room prior our arrival my friend had sent the hostel a message on 11 July at 4pm requesting that we stay in the same room despite having separate bookings (which can also be seen in another screen shot attached to this review). Gruppo di 23 persone. All arrivo la sorpresa. La prenotazione fatta e confermata via mail dal sito della struttura non corrisponde con le camere assegnate. Loro si giustificano dicendo che la conferma avviene a pagamento avvenuto.nessuno ha chiamato prima per informare del cambiamento. Blatte a flotta all esterno. Sporco. Materassi fatti da 10 cm di spugna. Bagni insufficienti e alcuni fuori servizio. Alla reception c era sempre qualche ospite che lamentava errori nella prenotazione. Il responsabile non si è mai visto in struttura per risolvere le questioni ma solo telefonicamente e sempre con toni arroganti. Sconsigliatissimo. Mi hanno addebitato più del dovuto. A fronte di una spesa di 588 si sono trattenuti 600 euro
