Huis Sint-Andriescruyse

So much to say and so few characters. This place is run by a couple who are completely arrogant and ignorant. Such horrible people. If you have a lot of luggage, be warned that there is a 20 step tight, steep climb to the rooms. It is a very old building, therefore the floors make a lot of noise when walking around. One room has a private toilet, bath tub and a container to fill with water and bathe yourself. No shower! The other rooms have a shower but the toilet is on the corridor and is shared with other rooms. We had travelled from the States and were jet lagged, we also got engaged the night before and had celebrations with family. The next morning we missed breakfast. Breakfast was at 9:30 am and at 10:30 am the lady of the house was banging on our door to get us up for breakfast. When we apologized for missing it, she said it is not good enough and continued to roar and shout. Her issue was the food that would go to waste however she had no idea of our dietary requirements therefore the food wouldn’t have been eaten anyway. I understand that in a guesthouse we are in someone’s house, but there is no homely feel in this place. Not once did the couple crack a smile. They are going through the motions and are always looking ahead to get you out and the next couple in. It is not worth the money. Great location but plenty more places for sure to stay and get a better experience and value for money.

We had two nights booked here and from the moment we arrived (after traveling a very long way) we were moved from one room to the next and the man who owned the place was quite overbearing. The second room we were put in was fine with a private toilet but no shower, just a bathtub. We were asked what time we would be joining for breakfast the next morning (from a very limited choice of options and felt pressured to respond). That night was very special for us as we got engaged which was followed by a late night of celebrations. The next morning we did not feel well enough to make it to breakfast and were rudely woken by the woman who owns the place repeatedly pounding on the door. When I answered it she immediately started yelling at me for not making breakfast and I apologized many times over. Then my fiance went out to speak to her and she continued to yell at him, which I could not believe with all the other guests there. I have never been treated so rudely or been berated like this. We made a mistake and missed breakfast without letting them know but don't think it warranted a response like that. Incredibly unprofessional... About the room... very simple, no shower or hose, loud creaky floors, never given the wifi code. If you'd like to enjoy your time in Bruges I suggest you look elsewhere or at whatever costs do not miss the breakfast!

Super gastvrije gastheer die er echt alles aan doet je verblijf zo perfect mogelijk te maken. Prachtige kamer met goede wifi en voorzieningen. Een heerlijk ontbijt en op loopafstand van de mooiste bezienswaardigheden. Het huis zelf is ook monument en prachtig aan een kanaal gelegen,. Aanrader!
