Hotel is excellent , breakfast very well prepared and presented & evening meals as good as anywhere. Staff are always helpful and friendly & my room was spotlessly clean. Nice thing with the hotel is there was usually some social activity in the bar in the evening eg Music quiz/ music bingo..... simply a lot of fun. Id recommend this hotel .

Lovely location just a short distance from the Isle of Arran Main Street and esplanade. Nice basic room , the lovely large bathroom was a treat. Breakfast was provided with a lovely menu available and a very happy obliging hostess. Quiet at night with the bar and restaurant located downstairs from rooms. Stairs may be a issue for some. Room could do with a lick of paint and the 1970’s wallpaper updated. We would consider staying again.

Perfect stay. Family run hotel with just 7 bedrooms. Superb, generous breakfasts. Very good value. Great location. Lively pub with excellent food, drink, friendly, helpful staff and the attentive service. An ideal base for exploring Arran with a car. Can't wait to return. Over the decades, I have visited various romantic castle ruins, spectacular scenery, learned about the amazing geology and history, sampled fabulous coffee shops and enjoyed excellent hill and coastal walking on Arran. This time my two friends and I visit highlights were: the Bob Marley biopic at the amazing mobile truck cinema, Stronach Wood Rock Art/Petrglyphs, the Wineport cafe/restaurant, the Lagg distillery and coffee shop, the King's Caves woodland/coastal walk, the Viking Fort at King's Cross with stunning views into the Arran Hills and across to Holy Isle. This trip was the first time I have taken the ferry to/from Troon. It was marvellous.

Good location and rooms are clean with good facilities. Service is excellent and staff are very friendly. Pub has a good atmosphere with a wide menu. Steak pie was very nice! . Overall , very good value for money. Would recommend to single travellers and families.

Great evening at the Ormidale. First time visiting here this evening and would definetly return. All the food we ordered was delicious and great portion sizes. I had the Moving Mountains burger and it's probably the best veggie burger I have ever had. Good friendly service also. Thanks Ormidale.

Solo walking trip. Shame weather didn't behave. Room (2) lovely. Great welcome from friendly staff, and quick service. Room overlooked park. Breakfast great - filled me up for a days walk. Offer of a packed lunch available (but I didnt use this). Evening meal good, but could do with a bit of variety (I had 3 sorts of curry on 3 nights). Would have had steak pie if available. £17 a pop, so not the cheapest. Well located. About 15 mins walk to ferry. Co op (the smaller one) about 5 mins walk. Bus stop to north and west of Arran is opposite Co-op. Otherwise, there not much nearby so if you have no transport, bear this in mind. The pub would benefit from a bench in the entrance to sit on whilst you peel off your (in my case, very wet) boots. Arran is lovely - go for it! Yes, I will return.

First visit solo with my German Shepherd dog. There were 3 things in particular I would like to base my review on: (1) a very affordable family run hotel in a good location. The room was clean and tidy. The bar/lounge area was well attended by residents, non-residents and locals. (2) the food was excellent quality. A great selection of hearty food, the battered haddock, steak pie and sticky toffee pudding from the bar menu I can give 5***** for, the breakfast menu offered a great selection also, again superb. (3) the staff were amazing, friendly and accommodating to all their guests.

We stopped by after being told how amazing the food was, and I have to say they were right. However that was the only good part of our experience. The hotel, bar and eating area was very unkept and dirty, the floor in the conservatory was filth and the plants were overgrown. . The waitresses also left a lot to be desired. After that experience although the food was lovely we will never return

After being disappointed with what was on offer in the village, a wee walk brings you here, and it was well worth it. The staff were excellent, covering the large lawn and all their customers with grace and a smile. And the food was brilliant, so much so we went back the next night.
