Descripción del alojamiento
Camp Oxbow started as a 19th Century log cabin, and now with new and modern conveniences you can enjoy beautiful views of a private Adirondack lake. Camp Oxbow has it all - plus a sandy waterfront. Tucked away on a bay in the southwest corner of Rainbow Lake, Camp Oxbow offers scenic views from upstairs and from the broad screened porch, and easy swimming out front. Original hand-hewn timbers and a cobblestone fireplace in the great room add authentic charm. The handy kitchen has maple cabinets built by an Adirondack craftsman. Camp Oxbow offers your choice of relaxation amid the pines, hiking up Buck Hill or to Jones Pond, and canoeing along Forever Wild waterways. Sightseeing favorites are within a short drive: the Paul Smiths Visitors Center, White Pine Camp, or the Wild Center, to name a few. About Us: Our family has been in the hospitality industry for over 5 generations and our restaurant/motel is soon to celebrate 200 years in existence. We are intimately aware of what guests want and expect in a vacation property. As past and present owners of this historic property, it is our aim to provide you with great hospitality in an authentic Adirondack experience. We hope to welcome you to our piece of tranquility. Why we think you will enjoy staying in Rainbow Lake: Whatever your heart's desire, you'll find your most memorable "lake in the mountains" vacation right here. Exploring on the water, in the woods, and on the mountains... or enjoying sight-seeing and shopping... or relaxing in a one-of-a-kind cabin with a sandy beach on one of the Adirondacks' more pristine lakes -- you'll find it all at Rainbow Lake or a few minutes away. Some of our wildlife sightings: fox, deer, loon, eagle, muskrat, fisher, beaver, heron, and yes, a porcupine. Why our property is special: For your vacation we hope you'll choose our authentic but modern cabin, renovated and decorated with respect and imagination. The screened porch looking out across the lake, cobblestone fireplace, and hand-hewn timbers are all original. We've added handcrafted cabinets in the kitchen, birch-bark decor, more lake views and new bathrooms. Oxbow retains its Adirondack style and private-bay location for a most memorable Forever Wild holiday/adventure. Camp Oxbow sleeps six in three enlarged bedrooms: one with double bed, one with queen, one with two singles. Enjoy the great room (25' x 21') or screened porch, the fully equipped kitchen off the great room, 2 modern full baths, and wall heater. Enjoy the waterfront with fire pit and outdoor furniture, under giant pines and birch. Waterfront of 105' welcomes you to the out of doors. Enjoy sunning on the beach, paddling by canoe or kayak or fishing along up to 25 miles of quiet shores of preserved state land up the Rainbow River to Lake Kushaqua. Rainbow is a private lake with no public access, stocked yearly for fishing, and the scenery is classic Adirondacks. Or take the short carry to Jones Pond and connect to the St. Regis Canoe area and the Saranac Lake Chain, which offer more miles of scenic paddling. Camp Oxbow's location is convenient for outings: *Paul Smiths Visitors Center, its interpretive trails, the Butterfly House & resident hawks are just 10 minutes away. *White Pine Camp and its tour of this historic Great Camp is a short drive away. *Six Nations Indian Museum in Onchiota and the NY State Fish Hatchery are fun and close by. *Whiteface Mountain, Lake Placid, its Olympic attractions, crafts, and performing arts are only 35 minutes' drive. *Excellent golf courses to choose from, within 20 - 40 minute drive. *Also nearby: the Adirondack Museum and the High Peaks, plus short hikes for children up St. Regis Mountain or Baker Mountain in Saranac Lake, and the scenic drive up Whiteface Mountain.
