The Castle of Brecon Hotel, Brecon, Powys - the Coaching Inn Group

The Castle made a two day walking holiday in the Brecon Beacons a most enjoyable experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food at breakfast and dinner was excellent. Will be back!

We stayed in Brecon Beacons for two nights. The hotel is clean and the food is great. The hotel is on a hill as like most places in Brecon Beacons, it is hilly. The room we stayed in was clean had decent wheelchair access and had a wet room. There is a car park but small. The hotel is a short drive from the Brecon Beacons visitor centre.

I read previous reviews and was prepared for some disappointment. It was not founded. I had a superior double room (506) which was fab for the money. It was a split level room with spiral staircase, bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a kitchen and lounge downstairs. I would have paid just for the upstairs - the downstairs didn’t really work for me - it needed comfy sofas or chairs rather than formal chairs and a table - and the kitchen seemed unnecessary. That said it was very comfy and the bathroom and bedroom was great. We visited in hot weather. I took a fan for my room. My friend didn’t have one for her room (507) and wished she had. The hotel should definitely have air con but that’s my only criticism. The decor of the hotel was just fabulous. Tasteful, colourful and stylish. The whole place was new so it all felt fresh and clean. Without any shadow of a doubt, the staff made it. Every member of staff smiled, and were friendly and welcoming. Our breakfast server from Manchester was standout friendly and such a great ambassador for the hotel! Also the barman who made the best margaritas! Going back in October with different friends. Just hope the same staff are there.

We stayed for two nights in this recently refurbished hotel. It is beautifully done and a joy to be surrounded by lovely paintings, furniture and decor. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel had a good atmosphere. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and comfortable, but it was very noisy. It was above the bar and we could hear the thump of the music all the time, we could also hear people in the room above and water from a tank. Avoid room 104 as we didn’t get much sleep, although they did turn the music down when we asked the staff to do this around 10.30 pm. The food was very pleasant and enjoyable. The only thing I didn’t like was the hollandaise sauce which was clearly not homemade and very disappointing. The hotel is a very short walk from the lovely town of Brecon and there’s plenty to see and do. We would definitely stay again, but not in that room or any other above the bar area.

had a wonderful time at the castle with my partner for his birthday, the decor is side was amazing very high class and a big change to how it was before the refurbishment. the staff were so friendly and seemed to really enjoy working there. food was amazing recommend the cod in parma ham and the flat iron steak. not waitress Madie was a really sweet girl and made our experience wonderful. My partner even had a free meal and dessert as it was his birthday. highly recommend going there.

Just had a wonderful time at the here, the new refurbishment has worked wonders in what was a derelict old building has been turned in to the heart and major talking point of the town, the food was amazing and the service was top quality from the mangers to the bar staff hostess and servers everyone was wonderful , I would suggest ordering the castle burger which was gorgeous. will be visiting again soon (best beer garden in Brecon
