Lion Hotel Borovets

This is the second time we've stayed here and we'll definitely be back! The reception area and restaurant has had a revamp since our last visit and it looked great! The food was very good - something to please everyone. The shuttle bus to the slopes was very regular, with 2 buses running in the morning. If you wish, you can do the 10-15 minutes walk instead. They are planning to refurbish the rooms after the winter season, and to be honest, this was the only reason I didn't score it as a 5 as the rooms are getting a bit tired.

There's a young girl working reception who wears glasses, I forgot to ask her name but she was exceptionally helpful and polite. Other members of staff not so much, but I think its a cultural thing. The hotel needs to drag itself into the 21st century as far as decor etc. ( no usb in rooms for example) . Having said that we loved our time here.

This hotel exceeded expectations, the food was great ! Every night was something different and good amount of choice and always presented well. The rooms are simple but beds are comfortable and wifi was good. We didn't know where the steam room was but the sauna and pool are nice ! It's nice to chill in the evening in the lobby, pool and ping pong available to play for a small charge. It took us 10 minutes to walk to the resort but there is a pretty forest walk through a park area which is longer but worth it in the evening to go Franco's for the quiz or bingo on a Tuesday.

Really enjoyed our family skiing break at the Lion Hotel Before arrival contacted the guest reservation manager, informing him of my daughters gluten intolerance, which we were assured the hotel would cater for. A warm welcome at reception on arrival letting us know about the times and amenities of the hotel. Allocated a room on the third floor which was spacious, clean and quiet. We found there was plenty to choose from at meal times and the free drinks were an added bonus, the chef made my daughter aware of which options were gluten free. The hotel was around a 15 minute walk to the centre and the minibus to the resort took around 5 minutes with no issues. Last year we stayed at the Rila and yes it is centrally located at the bottom of the slopes, but value for money would choose the Lion, not too busy and more of a family friendly feel to the hotel. The spa facilities were nice, swimming pool clean, hot tub, sauna and steam room relaxing after a long days skiing The drinks at the bar were reasonably priced along with a nice atmosphere The only suggestion would be for the breakfast buffet to start at 7am, instead of 7:30. Thank you to all the staff at the Lion, we had a great stay :-) 

Great hotel, comfortable, relatively quiet with everything you could need, food was good and the spa was also lovely Regular shuttle bus up and down to town, although it is walkable. Would definitely recommend, we will almost certainly book here for our next trip to Borovets.

Stayed here March 2024. -The hotel is slightly out the main area of Borovets, around 15 minute walk from the Gondola, with a shuttle bus included. -We found the hotel to be in a nice quiet spot. -The hotel was clean and warm and welcoming, with a nice bar and reception area. -The food was good and flavourful, thought not excellent. The wine and beer included with Dinner was a great touch. -The hotel staff helped us as much as they could in terms of my partner's coeliac disease. There wasn't lots of gluten free options but they were happy to cook up a simple chicken breast if there wasn't anything she could eat. -Thanks Lion Hotel!
