The hotel asked for a review and failed to post it on their website because we rated it 1 star and wouldn’t recommend it until it has been cleaned and redecorated. Room 14, the "best room in the hotel" (and most expensive) is very tired. The carpet is not fitted and underlay feels non existent. Shower has lots of mould. Radiator is extremely rusty. Room was not clean, external of shower and rest of the bathroom is grubby. Main door frame paint is either filthy or it needs painting. On the positives, service at breakfast was great, breakfast good. Furniture, pictures and bed were nice. The website is also misleading, yes the hotel won 4 in a bed in 2012 but it was not won by the current owners. Note, we didn’t complain at the time because we were late due to M6 accident, although we shouldn't have to complain that it wasn't clean. The hotel responded apologising. I posted their full response on trip advisor (apologies this didn’t comply with trip advisor policies so I have redacted the bulk of it) but in a nutshell the hotel policy is not to post reviews below 4 stars. Be warned. Also on trip advisor, the owner can respond to the review and that response may contain inaccuracies to soften the review, which I cannot respond to.
