Summer Garden Suites Beach Hotel

I don't know how on earth this hotel is rated four stars, the environment was dirty, there was nothing to do and the food was TERRIBLE. Do not consider visiting here if you have any allergies as none of the staff understood at all and I was told I could eat food that actually made me ill and the pool was much too small for the amount of people they have staying. One positive of this place is that it is a good location however nothing could persuade me to go back.

On arrival at 1am we were given a limp looking sandwich which we didnt eat thankfully as later heard of guest being ill after eating it. We were shown to our room which was small dirty and extremely hot . The air-conditioning didn't work so asked for someone to see to it which they tried but ended up moving to room downstairs, which was as bad as first but air-conditioning worked so stayed the night in it . Slept on rough bobbled sheets and in the morning open curtains to see a view of rubbish and the scruffy spa . The room had dead squashed flies on the wall was dirty no room for clothes and as for the shower it made me heave . After a stressful morning of trying to change hotel which easy jet wouldn't do but emailed hotel for us we were shown a bigger brighter room which we had to accept. The house keeper came as dirty and cleaned some but was told shower couldn't be cleaned . I couldn't see through shower screen was so filthy and mouldy . I went out for bleach etc and did it myself and every day as maid only changed towels.which often smelled unpleasant and no safe In rooms Stayed for 11 nights and only had bed changed the day before leaving. Anyway pool ok and sunbeds comfy, the pool attendance works very hard There is no air conditioning in reception or dining room which gets very hot . Food adequate had to queue and not always available tables .Bar frequently runs out of ice or are told can only have it with a cocktail except you can only have those between 7pm abd 8pm . Bar manager very helpful and nice. Close to beach which is good .Manager of hotel very unbotherd about issues and doesn't really try to help or ask if everything is OK Most people we spoke to had changed rooms etc and weren't happy . Will never return

I was going to write a long review about this, but I’m going to keep it short. Food ok but repetitive. Dining area tables disintegrating, sticky, ( cleaned with window cleaner) This could be easily remedied with tablecloths, wouldn’t be any better but would be hidden. Don’t think the room was swept the entire time we were there. Have a read of D O’Hara’s review further down. Think we must have been there at the same time, as we remember Mr Muscle and Mrs Botox and the abandoned child. The staff and other guests went out of their way to help keep this poor child amused. We had booked to go to the spa, but when we went round and the towels were drying on the bushes, we cancelled. It was a bit difficult to get a refund but it happened eventually when we threatened to contact reception. The bar/restaurant staff are what raise the score from a two to a three with the exception of housekeeping. Most of the (poor) reviews are pretty near the mark. We were lucky our room didn’t suffer from some of the things other reviewers sufferedThe bus into Bodrum stops just outside the hotel and it’s a cheap way to get into the town. Mr Belly Dancer was ok, but the dance group definitely raised the bar. The holiday reps need to reevaluate this resort.

Overall this was our bugdet family holiday the second of two. I was expecting a typical 3 star hotel. I liked the buildings and the size of the hotel not too big it is green with friut trees growing around. The location is good close to the beach the hotel beach is small but sunbeds are provided free. The sunbeds at the pool are old and some of them are broken the matresses are dirty and need replacement. The room was ok a bit old too, but the bathroom was terrible (mould in the shower) and after reading reviews and seeing photos before visiting i acctually packed my own bleach to clean the shower just in case and indeed it came in handy all it took was some bleach, which means the cleaning lady should be provided with better cleaning detergents. The room was cleaned everyday the towels were changed. Guests who left their dirty dishes on the stairs were irritating as those dishes were there all day till the next morning until the cleaning lady came and took them away, this also means non of the Staff did any rounds to check for dishes or trash during the day. Now for the food I was expecting much worse food but actually it was good what is terrible and makes the food experience bad is the dining area it is so hot that you can't enjoy the food no fans no air conditioning even more heat is produced by the live cooking and the close distance of the kitchen and the oven used to make fresh traditional turkish flat bread onsite. The tables are old and look dirty no table cloths. They put a net to keep all the cats from comming from the street, I recommend the hotel owners to istall Glass Windows or plexy Glass Windows on the terrace to close the area off add airconditioning or fans and new tables to make the dining experience much better.

Note: this is not a 5* luxury hotel, but for a 3* Turkish Hotel Summer Garden was perfect for us. Small room, slightly dated with a fridge, sink and kettle and supermarket virtually onsite for any extras. Clean towels every day. Swimming pool area was great, comfy sun beds with a lovely, shady bar area. Food was very good … Turkish mostly which is what we expected but there were usually chips and chicken nuggets or beef burgers available for less adventurous eaters. All the staff were fab. Nice pool table plus seating area in reception. Bitez beach was just a few steps away with all its lovely restaurants and bars and regular dolmushes (Turkish buses) stopped right outside the hotel for trips into Bodrum. Our whole trip was wonderful and incredibly good value. Thank you summer gardens.

Absolute dump of a hotel rooms are very very tired. Food not actually too bad although not much choice, dining room in need of a desperate clean ,didn't see any Cockroaches but I'm pretty sure ther is. Overall staff ok. Pool area kept clean people leave their towels out all night long. Avoid the Misery that is the spa, I've seen the inside of Skips cleaner. Just spend a little extra money and get a better Hotel
