We’ve stayed at this premier inn a few times (when visiting relatives in the area). In the past the staff have always been friendly and helpful. However when we arrived on New Year’s Eve at 2.30 pm (mistakenly thinking that booking in was from 2pm) the lady on reception greeted us with ‘booking in is at 3pm, if you want to book in earlier there’s a charge of £10 and the rooms aren’t ready yet anyway! Nice! Not even ‘good afternoon, how are you’. We left and went to the pub next door for half an hour. Returning at 2.10pm, when the receptionist and another member of staff were busy dealing with a problem on another customer’s account. Neither member of staff acknowledged us or even made eye contact with us. Even after the other customer had left, they continued to discuss the problem between themselves, before acknowledging us! The room was as you would expect at a premier inn, except that the heating wasn’t working properly. We didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel. It’s cheaper and better in the pub next door.
