Polderhuis Bed & Breakfast

My wife and I wanted to visit Delft, and looking for a place to stay we found Polderhuis B&B. It proved to be one of the best accommodations we ever visited in The Netherlands. The building itself is very characterful, and once inside the interior proved to be tastefully in synch with the exterior. The staff were very friendly, and once we had settled ourselves in our room, the 1906, which number refers the year the Polderhuis was built, we decided to grab something to eat. The menu doesn't provide dinner as such, but there are soups, various sandwiches, meal salads et cetera. So plenty of choice. The menu mentioned that a lot of what's on offer is organic and fairtrade. What's not to like about that? The tomato soup was superb; obviously home made from fresh tomatoes. The tuna sandwiches were also excellent, and we liked the bread that was used. Pain de Mer. The menu explains how the use of purified sea water reduces the amount of salt needed to bake this kind of bread. Whatever... What matters is that it tastes delicious! Anyway, with our bellies full we enjoyed the rest of the evening in our spacious room, which had a lovely view of a park that is right outside the B&B's front door. The bathroom was also quite spacious - due to the fact that it is suited for disabled people - and had an excellent rain shower. The beds, quite large. I would estimate super king size, and they were very comfy! Needless to say, we slept well. Next morning, there was breakfast. What a treat! Little round buns of that same delicious Pain de Mer, fresh croissants, cheeses (we declined meat for breakfast), jams, honey. And we could ask for eggs in any form we wanted, scrambled, boiled, whatever. Very tasty, believe me. And again, friendly staff. That too, adds to the experience. In my infinite wisdom (ahem), I like to say: friendlyness costs nothing, but it's priceless. So, rounding all this up, Polderhuis proved to be a most excellent place to stay, one that we certainly intend to visit again. And should you find yourselves in need of an accommodation in that area, I recommend this B&B, that is in some ways like a small luxury hotel.

We stayed at the Polderhuis B&B for 3 nights in September while visiting my niece who lives in Bergschenhoek. Our room was nice, comfortable and clean. Nice atmosphere all around. The surroundings are very nice. It is located across the street from a park and also has its own pretty land scaping. The breakfast was one of the best we have experienced in Europe (traveling there about once a year). It was fresh, healthy and plentiful. Good Coffee and other refreshments available. All around an excellent place to stay. If you are elderly or for some reason do not do well using stairs, make sure you get a ground floor. Otherwise, we lodged at an upper floor and our luggage was carried up and down for us as needed. There are restaurants, gift shops, bakeries and grocery stores in walking distance.

We stayed in Polderhuis B&B in Sep. 2022 for 2 nights. This is a historic building, however, the inside was remodeled nicely. The bedroom was adequate size and the bathroom was well designed with excellent quality fixtures and hardware. A/C was available and well functioning. The host Mika was one of the nicest persons I met and she was very accommodative of what we needed. The bed was comfortable. The neighbor was peaceful with convenient supermarket and stores nearby. Parking was on a street curb in front of the hotel and spots were available. We have excellent memory of staying here and would come back when we travel around the area.

Voor ons was het de eerste keer in het Polderhuis. Erg fijn gastvrij ontvangen door één van de eigenaren. Na een klein verhaaltje over de geschiedenis van het gebouw kregen we de kamer te zien. Een huiselijk fijne gezellige kamer met een groot bed. Heerlijke badkamer met douche. Ideaal is dat je 's avonds zelf drinken kunt pakken en deze pas bij vertrek hoeft af te rekenen. 's morgens een heerlijk ruim verzorgd ontbijt met een lekker eitje en zelfgemaakte jam. Dit is een B&B waar je vrolijk van wordt. De eigenaren runnen deze B&B met passie en klasse. Wij komen hier zeker nog eens terug.

Al bij aankomst zagen wij hoe schitterend het pand er van buiten uitzag, Wij zijn frequente en enigszins verwende reizigers zonder echte B&B ervaring want wij verblijven meestal in (de luxere ) hotels. Wij werden bij aankomst meteen gastvrij welkom geheten door 1 van de eigenaren. Ook binnengekomen zag alles er fantastisch uit, heel sfeervol maar ook eigentijds en passend in het museale pand. De luxe kamer die wij hadden gekozen bleek ook werkelijk een mooie kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Alles was perfect schoon, mooi en ook alle apparaten functioneerden naar behoren. Het leek wel nieuw en was ook zeer comfortabel. Omdat we bij familie voor het kerstdiner waren uitgenodigd hebben we niet in de B&B gedineerd. Gezien het feit dat we waarschijnlijk rond middernacht terug zouden komen werd ons meteen verteld dat wij na thuiskomst ook gebruik konden maken van de bar faciliteiten. Er was dan wel geen bediening meer maar we konden het gebruik zelf bijhouden. Wat een vertrouwen! Het ontbijt de volgende morgen was heerlijk,overvloedig en dus zeer compleet, met allemaal verse lokale en streekproducten. Ook nu was de bediening weer zeer vriendelijk en correct. Dus voor ons een geweldige ervaring met B&B. En een echte aanrader…. Wel op tijd boeken.

Super hartelijke ontvangst, prachtige kamer en fantastisch ontbijt, uitgebreid en met zorg gemaakt! Het was een feestje om hier te overnachten. In het nabijgelegen Berkel en Rodenrijs zijn tal van goeie eetadresjes. Echt een aanrader!
