Warning: get comfortable. Business traveler here. I’m in Beaumont regularly. I usually stay somewhere else, but thought I’d try out this place because my normal accommodation doesn’t have a bar and restaurant area within it. I’m not staying here again though. It has some positives, I will say. The cookies they make for guests are awesome. However, if the staff doesn’t feel like it, they don’t make them. When they were available, it was a nice way to end the day as they were delicious! Ok, enough about cookies. I enjoyed the bar/restaurant when Christine was working. She recommended a ribeye, and the cook did not disappoint! She was friendly and attentive. The room furnishings were nice enough, and the bathroom was fine. The showers had good pressure, and lots of towels were provided. Most of the staff with which I interacted were lovely. The Keurig machine in the room is a nice feature, but I had to buy my own k-cups because the brand they provided were awful. Also housekeeping kept leaving more decaf than regular k-cups. And the coffee proved in the lobby was tasteless. As you can tell, I’m starting to go into the not-so-positive stuff. The coffee, for some, is a minor issue that can be overlooked. Do know that you WILL hear the Highway noise and road construction in your room. I use a sound machine and talk radio to sleep; so it didn’t bother me at all. The bigger issue was the bedding … they had feather pillows or lumpy pillows. There was no other option. I asked at the front desk for a different pillow, but it was the same experience (or they just didn’t bother to change it). The beds aren’t bad but they’re not great. The mattresses are hard under the pillow top cover, and the sheets were scratchy. My experience may be less of an issue for others. I’m the first to admit that I’m spoiled when it comes to my bed and bedding. Also, I do think they should have a hard copy of their hotel services in the room. Most of the time, the page brought up by the QR code wasn’t working. My last morning there, I worked from the hotel and had hoped to call down to the restaurant to order breakfast ahead so that I could bring it up to the room. No such luck because of the tech glitches which meant no menu. So I went down to order. The woman at the restaurant counter decided she needed to take a call on her personal phone on speakerphone because she had to make an appointment for an MRI. I am not worried about her privacy because she hollered across the lobby to every employee and guest within earshot after the call to announce it. I’m not sure if that was for my benefit to explain why she blew me off to take a call while standing in front of me or because she wanted everyone to know. What I DO know is that in a customer-facing position, your personal business, unless it’s an emergency, isn’t supposed to be handled while a customer stands there for 10 minutes.
