Master Builder's House Hotel

First time we've stayed and this location is exactly as charming as it looks in the pictures. As others have mentioned the rooms are quite small but why would anyone spend anything other than the minimum time in them with what's in the vicinity? Everything was spotlessly clean, Nicki on reception is a star and the breakfast was superb, even more so with that view.

We stayed for one night and arrived at a very busy Sunday afternoon. We decided to explore the area for lunch instead as queue for bar was too long. Our room was at top of the hotel with some heavy going stairs! Room was large, quirky and comfortable but bath took so long to drain away. Food in restaurant in evening was good, staff friendly and efficient. The best thing about this hotel is the location.

Had a wonderful few days at The Master Builder's. From start to finish the staff were great, chatty, friendly, funny, just what good hotel staff should be. A knock-out room overlooking the harbour, extremely comfortable bed. What's not to like? And the unexpected arrival of several vintage Delage cars was a real bonus!

We enjoyed our previous stay in May so much that we had to return. This time we stayed in room 22 (Husar) - One of the Riverview rooms in the main hotel and what a fabulous room it was. Very spacious, well equipped (including a fridge), extremely comfortable bed and views to die for. We stayed again for 5 nights and dined in Henry's with our two dogs every evening. The food was absolutely superb every night. Breakfast is delicious and with plenty of choice and the staff are all so welcoming, attentive and friendly. We were expecting bad weather but we actually had very good weather and managed to walk to Beaulieu on two separate days. This is a really fabulous walk following the river and we would thoroughly recommend this to other guests. We also spent a day at Exbury Gardens again and on another day we walked all around Lepe Country Park and right along Lepe Beach to Stanswood Bay where there are the remains of buildings used for D Day. The dogs loved running along the beach on the way there. A truly dog friendly hotel where they supply dog beds and treats - we bought both our dogs beds with us but they preferred to sleep in the ones supplied by the hotel! We found the hotel so relaxing and spent many hours just watching the world go by from the hotel gardens, terrace, lounge and from our room window - absolute bliss! This really is the most wonderful and relaxing place to stay and we will be returning again and again.

The whole experience was amazing and the staff were welcoming, even the dog had a bed ,bowl and welcome hamper. The staff couldn't of done anything more to make the experience more comfortable. Highly recommend and looking forward to going there again. Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone we met and interacted with.

A fascinating property with both modern and historical aspects.The location is perfect ,the hotel accommodation was excellent.The staff polite and very helpful (Special mention to the lady heading up the restaurant who was very accommodating.)We enjoyed every aspect of this break.

Had an amazing stay for my husband’s birthday. The room was beautiful and service exceptional. Thank you Daisy for looking after us very attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend such a lovely place with lovely staff . Will definitely be revisiting

Called here for lunch with family after our dog walk, great location however the service was not good, had to remind the waitress as she had forgotten the potatoes and the mayonnaise to go with my sons fish cake which did seem to be lacking fish.

The location is beautiful and Henry's bar is fine. However we dined in the restaurant and whilst the food was adequate , small portions. the service was poor. This was mainly due to the lack of staff and the staff available were clearly very stretched with limited experince.
