We had a wonderful experience at the Anchorage 1770 Inn the week of Independence Day. Our room was one of the first floor Garden View Rooms. We enjoyed the interaction the room gave us with the staff since the kitchen & housekeeping on that floor. Room was clean & the staff kept it that way throughout our stay. Large bathroom with 2 showerheads. Each night we received 2 chocolate chip cookies and some lemon water for turndown service. Great options for breakfast each morning made for a great start to each day. Perfectly cooked eggs, sausage, grits and French toast plus fruit. Diana took care of each morning and checked to see how our stay was going plus offered us suggestions for things to do each day. We had dinner our final night at the Inn. The meal was the second night for the new chef. We enjoyed the meal with one of us getting a Ribeye with charred corn and mashed potatoes and the getting the Prime Pork with purple sweet potatoes & squash. For an appetizer, we had the lamb crostini. Our waiter, Brian, did a great job, but we were looked after by everyone else there too. The chef came around to interact with each of the tables to see how she & her staff had done. We ate all our meals on the front porch which makes for a great setting. Don’t miss watching the sunset from the fourth floor porch. One of nights we were was July 4 and we were able to see several fireworks displays in the area. Grabbed some bourbon & rye one from the honor bar on that floor to enjoy the view on another night. The Inn provided us beach chairs & towels the days we went out to Hunting Island State Park. One day we used their bikes to see the Spanish Moss recreation trail. Walking to restaurants, Reconstruction Era National Park & seeing the new Harriett Tubman statue were nice too. Again we enjoyed our stay and the staff helped make our week memorable & make us already thinking when we will return.
