The Boathouse

I usually don't take the time to review a restaurant unless it was bad enough to feel ripped off. Why is it these days that service sucks so hard? This place is not understaffed but rather staffed with apathetic youngsters who may not be able to spell "initiative" without their phones, let alone grasp the concept. As an American, maybe I'm spoiled with the service one gets in the USA as a result of a tipping culture. At this place we had to ask twice to get our table wiped clean (a morose waiter with a stained t-shirt, eventually did spread the sticky residue around in a spiral fashion- somehow making it worse), and we had to get up and got our own napkins out of the supply area. I could take this in stride if it wasn't for the insult was paying over 30£ for a steak that was more gristle and bone than meat, and too thin it be called a steak, yet too tough for me to cut with the butter knife that the waiter brought me before I had to ask for a steak knife. He also forgot the chips but eventually brought them over. To be fair, the night before we sat in a different area, had a lovely waitress, and got fish and chips and had no problems. There is a QRC code to order from the menu if you'd like to really minimize all human contact but as I am over 50 years old, I refuse to order on my phone. Hopefully some stronger training and management could help future guests leave without that sinking feeling of "I can't believe I just paid to be punished".

We booked a Sunday lunch for our family of 11 , as a birthday celebration for my husband. The food selection we had was excellent and we were extremely well looked after by all the staff and in particular, by Georgia, who was superb and made us feel very welcome. My husband and I regularly visit The Boathouse and have never been disappointed.

I’ve been a bit slow on getting around to writing this review but I was not going to miss giving this place a shout out! The setting and the room were absolutely beautiful but the biggest credit goes to the staff. So welcoming and friendly. From the young lady who served our drinks on arrival (didn’t get a name but she finished at 5pm Monday 16th sept), Abi, who checked us in and showed us to our room and also, along with the lovely Reuben, made sure we had everything we needed and couldn’t do enough for us and last but certainly not least, Sophia who was so friendly when we returned from a night out in time for our last drink at the bar. The staff are an absolute credit to this place! Well done and thank you all ☺️

Excellent facilities , Excellent food , area and location absolutely gorgeous I can’t stand people who Nik pick things , this place is amazing ? What makes it even better ? The staff Sophia, Chelsea , Lilly , Ollie ,Cher and all other staff really go out there way to help you, they do everything they can from letting me use there phone , charging my battery. Giving me ice etc etc little things that make the difference They are always smiling and polite this is why it is my local Great team guys keep it up

Ideal if you want to visit Bath, but don't want a bustling central location. Comfortable rooms & beds. Good shower. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff. So pleasant to be by the river watching the boating world go by & lots of wildlife. Park & ride next door for easy access to Bath centre.

We stayed here as 2 couples over a weekend to visit the Bath Xmas market. The park and ride bus is only s few minutes walk from the hotel and a great way of getting into town. Can’t really fault the hotel, lovely rooms with a lot of personal touches, comfortable bed and pillows. We ate in the bar once and food and service were great. The hot breakfasts each morning were lovely and freshly cooked. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere. Special mention to Erin and Reuben who looked after us well.
