Travelodge Cardiff Airport

The reason it’s a 2 start not a 1 star is because of the staff. The guy on reception was great. He sorted my problem - he came on the room and picked up the litter left by the last guests. But, it’s a very basic hotel. Bottom of the barrel stuff. The hotel floor is cleaned by “robotic cleaners”. Unfortunately, this meant there were grapes left on the floor upon my checking in as the technology couldn’t cope with that. When I reported this to reception the guy did come into the room and pick these up for me. But, it’s also a very dated room. There’s no aircon. Not ideal for a 27 degree day. The window was wide open. There were moths on the wall in the bathroom. The key to access the room was an old fashion twist key. It’s all very dated. Don’t stay here if you have expectations of a modern clean place. Unfortunately the old holiday inn, which was a far better property for hotel stays, is now leased out to the government to house illegal immigrants. The travel lodge is in a good location and has potential. But it badly needs updating. If Travelodge wants to compete with premier inns and holiday inn they need to update sites such as this. They’re miles behind those franchises and I wouldn’t stay here again out of choice.

Very happy with our stay here. Myself and my spouse spent 3 days there in early June 2025, and it was quiet and clean in there, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Also, it's very close to the seaside town of Barry - and the coast. And even though it's near the airport, there is very little noise, as not many flights come into - and out of Cardiff. Thoroughly recommended!

The staff make the stay here lovely. The rooms are basic (e.g no usb slots) but clean and fresh and well maintained. An ideal spot for the airport, trips to Barry Island and Llantwit Major.

The hotel was excellent. Finding it from the Sat nav address was impossible for us (from a motorsport participant).

Best travel lodge we have ever been to, everyone was just brilliant and nothing was any trouble. All other amenities were closed at hand and the Toby carvery was such a warm welcoming place. Great nights sleep and beautifully clean and tidy.

Nice comfy bed and very clean room. Toby Carvery was being refurbished so had to drive into Barry for evening meal, not a problem short drive into Barry. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again. Very peaceful during the night.
