Everything about the hotel oozes quality... The decor is top end... Classy, calm colours , local artists decorate the walls. Dyson hairdryers. Local food produce. Staff provide a 1 on 1 quality service ensuring that your stay is perfect. One of the best hotel experiences that I, ve experienced... Highly recommended!!! This long-overdue review of a most praiseworthy boutique hotel is actually kick-started by a newspaper review I read the other day which (with full acknowledgement to the writer in ‘Escape’!) said it ‘is one of the loveliest hotels I’ve stayed at in Australia’…… that writer took the words out of my mouth! We had the Kingston Suite for an couple of nights and it was a feast for the eyes…. except the word ‘feast’ probably sounds too big and bold considering the serenity of the room and its sublimely tasteful and calm-inducing decor. We actually liked their towel choice so much we took ourselves to Sheridan whilst in Ballarat and bought ourselves copycat towels to take home! We’d also have liked to have taken home the luxe linen and their stunning hallway table…..indeed we could actually just transplant the whole hotel across to Adelaide to fill the gap we definitely have in the SA market for such superb small-scale hotels with so much comfort and warm welcoming hosts. Also, breakfast could not have been more perfectly assembled and portioned. Very well done!

If you want to be treated and spoilt, go to Hotel Vera at 710 Sturt Street, Ballarat. A small establishment in what was originally a large medical home – comprising only 7 guest rooms – but each unique with an amazing décor. Hosts David and Martin will treat you like family. Attentive and respectful. Start the day with an indulgent and relaxing breakfast. The best and most comfortable pillows and beds that we have experienced for a long time. Excellent location just a few minutes’ walk from town. In a city full of sometimes ordinary accommodation, Hotel Vera is a unique and very worthwhile experience. Admittedly not inexpensive – but worth it. We will be back.

The hidden gem of Ballarat. We celebrated a special occasssion and were warmly greeted by both David & Martin on our arrival who immediately made us feel at home. The hotel has a charm all its own, & we stayed in the Kingston suite, which was spacious & beautiful. Thanks to David, Martin & Uni for a memorable stay that we won't forget !!

A truly top class fabulous small boutique hotel. The rooms are just perfectly equipped with many extras. Everything in the room from the bedding to the hairdryer is top quality. The owners are brilliant hosts. We had recommendations about what to visit in Ballarat and also for restaurants to eat in as the hotel restaurant is not open every night of the week. We would have loved to stay longer and will definitely return. A real gem.

We just experienced a two night stay at Hotel Vera and loved every moment. The owners David and Martin were very welcoming and warmly greeted us upon arrival. It felt like being invited into someone's home rather than the usual hotel check in. We stayed in Vera's 'blue room' called the Sandon - and loved the attention to detail given to every aesthetic touch. The blue walls gave the room a beautiful tranquillity and it was thoughtfully adorned with paintings and sculpture. We loved the Victorian era high ceilings and the king sized bed was so comfortable it is to die for. Everything in the room is so considered and creative. The bath and shower are positively luxurious and must be enjoyed. The breakfast service was delicious and in the beautiful surrounds of restaurant Babae downstairs. The restaurant and kitchen staff were warm and friendly and very accommodating - as were all the staff at Hotel Vera. I cannot recommend this stay enough and we will certainly be back someday - Simon & Samone.
