New Pondok Sara Villas

Fantastic value for money, quiet and peaceful away from any traffic noise. Staff make this place extra special with their knowledge, kindness and fabulous sense of humour. Special mention of Charlie Brown, (cocktail, awesome barman), Artie (driver with amazing patience and wonderful tourguide for us), G'day our gardener does an amazing job as does G'day whom looks after all of the pools here. These villas are in a great position, only a couple of minutes walk to Double Six JL, then only 10 min walk to the beach. I have been told that they are slowly doing up all the villas which I think is needed, ours didn’t appear to have been done up yet but we did see people working on others. This being the case our Villa was clean, the bed really comfortable, the bathroom though a tad creaky was neat and clean. Only thing to go into these villas knowing you can’t flush the toilet paper, there is a small bin that you put used toilet paper in, I know this was common many years ago but I haven’t come across this in a long time. Our little private pool was in shade most of the day so was very cold, not so inviting for me. The two sun loungers in our villa were hard and very uncomfortable, we asked if were could have some of the padded lounge toppers but were told they don’t have for the villas only for the 6 communal pool lounges. Most of the staff were lovely, housekeeping and the bar staff in particular were very friendly. I found the front reception girls pretty disinterested, bored looking most of the time. When you first arrive at the villas your first impression is of a work site, messy, untidy building material scattered around, old sheds full of stock. They have no buffet breakfast option, you have to order your breakfast the day before and it is delivered at the time you requested to your Villa, we did not enjoy our breakfast at all, it was cold poached eggs on waterlogged bread with a strange assortment of things on a plate that was covered in sweaty cling wrap. However just a couple of minutes down the lane way are heaps of little cafes that have beautiful breakfasts.

It was lovely to have our own private pool and breakfast was brought to us each morning. Good location - 10 min walk to the beach, 2 minutes to a lovely spa and 2 minutes to the markets. Lovely bathroom - unfortunately we didn’t get time to use the beautiful bath tub. Staff very friendly. Bedroom was very comfortable!

We have just returned to the UK after 10 days here and our 3rd trip to Bali. The location is fantastic - about a 7 minute walk to double six beach and all the restaurants / shops and about a 30 minute walk to eat street (a lot quicker than getting a taxi the traffic is terrible) The grounds are so pretty and there is a communal pool as well as your own private pool. We stayed in villa 7 which i believe is the biggest one bedroom villa and right at the back. The villa itself has everything you need and breakfast is served in the outside area every day which consists of eggs, pancakes, cereal etc. We ordered room service on a few occasions too as unfortunately we did all get sick. The main thing that lets it down is the cleanliness - some of the towels had stains on, when my son was sick in the bed they did not change the sheets and I had to tell them to remove all of the ants from the sink in the kitchen area as my sons bottles were there. The pool was not cleaned the whole 10 days we were there either. The bathroom is awful and smells of sewers at all times - it is definitely in need of some renovation. There is no mosquito net around the bed either which I think is a must have in Bali. Some changes definitely need to be made but overall it was a nice stay!

After 27 trips to Bali this is honestly the wórst accommodation I have ever stayed in. It’s a 2 star establishment and they should be hònest about that fact. Everything is literally stained, old, dirty, mouldy, broken and falling apart. We tried cleaning but without full cleaning supplies if was near impossible, our disinfectant wipes were just turning to mud. Mouse or rat pöö behind things and on shelves and in cupboards. Ants everywhere. Swimming pool in villa cloudy. Room smells so musty it was hard to breathe. Inside the drawers very dirty, no idea how the inside of drawer could get so bad. Floor is making my feet black. Cupboard in bathroom is full of red/pink mould, no where to put clothes etc. smells really bad!!! The wood around the bathroom sink is black with mould. Black mould on wall behind pillow. Bed is very small and only one very old pillow. Animal pöö on ledges in the bathroom. Bed very hard. Sheets are too small for the bed so come off in the night showing the really old smelly mattress - This is what I disliked the most it just felt so unhygienic and the sheets just smelt so bád. Curtains are old, dirty and smelly. Mosquitoes are really bad but they do give you coils but don’t light them or give you a lighter. Bad stains, damage and marks on every surface, all needs replacing. Side of kitchen cupboard was very deteriorated, mouldy and falling apart. Wifi is very slow. No hand towels to dry hands. Villa main door was very hard to lock and even when you think they are locked they push open. The pool filter goes nonstop so always noisy. The chairs are all a vinyl so your body sticks to them with the heat. There was absolutely so special touches like a frangipani on the beds etc. Staff don’t speak much English. Girl at reception isn’t great or nice.

Hotel staff is very polite and helpful however I don’t know how this place has 4 stars our villa was definitely run down and this place really needs an upgrade bathrooms to the villas next door are connected and above the shower there an open space where at night I did not feel safe as we could hear the next door neighbors in the bathroom and someone could easy get over . Definitely not worth the money we paid and will not be returning here on our next trip wish I read the reviews prior as there photos are not up to date . There are many other villas in bali I do not recommend this one .
