Ideal location for seeing Bakewell. Nice atmosphere, shame they stop serving food at 6pm.

Myself and my husband visited for one night, we came our motorbike, there was unfortunately no parking but plenty of parking nearby. I messaged ahead of our arrival to see if there was a possibility or checking in early due to being sweaty and wanting to freshen up after the journey, we did manage to get into the room early which was great. Fantastic room, they had thought everything, there wasn’t just tea and coffee in the room, but hot chocolate, cordial, apple and orange juice, porridge and biscuits, excellent selection. Lovely beer garden in the sun, we didn’t eat but from what we saw it all looked lovely. The staff where lovely and friendly, and they love a banter. we would definitely recommend and would stop here again if we come back.

Came in with our family on the off chance and the guy behind the bar kindly accommodated us all. Food was good quality and plentiful. Good pub food. Food prices were good although drinks a little on the steep side. Was a slight mix up with our order but quickly rectified. Staff were very apologetic. Nice experience and would return

This is a proper pub and found it to be friendly. Watched the England game so the bar was busy and not easy to watch the tv. However, if visiting Bakewell, I would recommend that you visit it for a pint or two. Located within the town near the bus stops so easy peasy if going elsewhere.

Lovely chap that took our drinks and food order, nothing was too much trouble when asking to change a couple of things for our order. Lovely warm pub & atmosphere. The darker haired lady wasn’t quite as friendly which was a bit upsetting, sort of made you feel like she didn’t want you there and was a strain on her to communicate with you but the lovely man was so welcoming with a lovely smile and the waiter young lad dark hair was really lovely too, makes such a difference when you visit somewhere for a treat. Steak and ale pie, chips, mash and sausages were all really tasty. Sticky toffee pudding was good but unfortunately only just luke warm, crumble was good too if a little sour, could’ve done with being slightly sweeter. Would definitely return though and try some more meals from the menu.

I went to the red lion yesterday and met up with my daughter the pub was very busy, we ordered food which came very quickly, I has the home made steak and ale pie was amazing the staff were very helpful will definitely go again. Had a really nice rose wine

I only ate here but kinda wished I never. Had the Sunday roast but was very disappointed. The roast potatoes and the stuffing balls were obviously ready made frozen ones. The chicken was...well 'white' is how I would describe it. No nice crispy brown skin. The worlds biggest chunks of carrot were near on impossible to cut and the gravy had no taste. The frozen peas were ok though!

We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, food in the evening was good, room clean, bed comfy, continental breakfast laid out and plentiful. Yes, you do have to let yourself in and out the fire escape and there is no parking onsite but bakewell is notorious for that. I called ahead and was advised to use bridge street carpark which is family run, only a short walk away and allow overnight for £12. The red lion is a great location on the high street and has lots of character, it's a great place to stay

Ordered food and was told my allergy option was available but when food arrived it was wrong and when I pointed out the order was wrong I was told that they only did that option despite what the person who had taken the order had said , notices in the bar tell you to inform staff of any allergies which I did .I was given a refund. The time I waited for my food was 40 minutes and when I enquired was told they only had 1 chef on which would have been fine if I’d been informed of the waiting time when ordering … the staff need to be better trained on allergies as someone could have been made very ill
