I stayed several years running, some years ago and had a soft spot for the Cape Point Hotel and for old-times sake and the attraction of a walk-in pool (I'm elderly now) I booked a week, direct as I knew someone locally to go in on my behalf as my enquiry through the hotel's website didn't get a reply! Unfortunately there were very few guests in Match and the restaurant was closed except for breakfast, cooked, which was very nicely served in style. However the room itself was dusty, the bathroom was somewhat shabby and with only a little shelf and no cabinet for toiletries - Heavens help a couple staying! Worst of all for me was I found the tiled and otherwise inviting pool desperately slippery underfoot when walking out and, I thought, too potentially hazardous for an elderly like me. After two nights I relocated. This still charming small hotel in a great location deserves a fresh and ambitious management to invigorate its prospects and lift the standard to what it was, and find a fix for that pool.
