This trip was a second trip to Inn at Avila Beach celebrating our Wedding Anniversarie! Both times we did the Avila Experience. This trip we had a hot tub in our room. We love the Ocean View and the sound of the Ocean is just incredible. Breakfast is excellent! Pie and ice cream in the evening is great! Quirkly place but in a great way! Plenty of good food within walking distance! Just wish they had the miniture ice cream sandwiches they had last year!

Everything from check in to check out was perfect! The hotel was beautiful and not your typical run of the mill, cookie cutter hotel. The rooms were gorgeous and very comfortable. We had the ocean view with a patio overlooking the ocean. Listening to the ocean every night was so peaceful. The included breakfast was delicious and the free pie and ice cream every night was the icing on the cake. Oscar, who served our pie and ice cream was so nice and very helpful. We ate on the sun deck and watched the sun set. Just beautiful. We will be back!!

Be forewarned this hotel needs some upgrades: The staff is very friendly, there is free parking, and there is a lovely rooftop deck. However, there is no air conditioning, no place to put your clothes, no elevator, and extremely outdated decor. Our full sized bed was really not suited to fit two adults. Our room smelled really bad. The tv would not turn off so we had to unplug it. Our room had no view except for looking out on a courtyard. There were no curtains to block out the light. Since this was meant to be a relaxing getaway we were disappointed to say the least.

I almost want to give it 0 stars. The hotel is in bad shape, uneven floors, broken tiles, broken shower head, no outlets for charging phones on the night stand, no coffee maker or coffee in the rooms. The rooms get super hot during the night if you want to keep your windows closed and have some privacy. There is a bad smell in the corridors and hallways as the ventilation isn't great. The front desk people are all part timers who do not communicate with each other before leaving their shifts, nor do they care about customer service. We asked to change rooms after the first night, because the sun was directly hitting the windows all day and got the room very hot. We were told by the morning front desk person that it is not a problem and it will not take more than an hour to switch rooms and that they will prioritize it. We packed our stuff, left it in the lobby at 11am and went out for lunch. We came back to a different front desk person an hour later who had no idea what is going on. The previous person didn't leave a note or communicate about us changing rooms. She told us to come back in an hour. We came back in an hour and there is a different person at the front desk, Hortencia, who had no idea what is going on either. She checks in with the cleaning staff and the room we were supposed to move to, is not on their list to be cleaned next. On top of every thing, now this lady is completely rude to us. She cut us off in the middle of our inquiries and starts helping another customer. In the end we asked her to transfer our stuff to the new room when it is ready and we left again and didn't come back until 5pm and that time there was a different person at the front desk yet again. Luckily this person finds out what is going on and gave us the keys to the new room. The new room had a broken shower head, no charging outlets, one fan and still very hot. I do want to mention a couple things that were good about this hotel, 1. There is pie and ice-cream in the evening between 7-8pm. 2. There is a barista onsite in the morning at 7:30am who takes orders for Lattes, cappuccinos and there are pastries available for breakfast. Overall, it was still a very bad experience because the rooms weren't great for the money we paid and the front desk people were unprofessional, uncaring and rude. We will never go back to this hotel ever again.

This hotel is pretty much falling apart, but there's a certain charm to it, from a bygone era. There are three things that make this place worth staying at: - the very friendly staff, including the breakfast/coffee staff, housekeeping, and front desk - the rooftop terrace space is AWESOME, and we spent a lot of time up there - the location is perfect The cons: - our room had one bedside lamp (how hard can it be to put in another one?) - the toilet paper sat on the back of the toilet (how hard can it be to put in a tp holder?) - there was a bad smell coming through (the walls, the window? not sure) periodically. I wish I had switched rooms but they seemed pretty full. Notes: - yes, there's parking on the main level, but it's first come first served. There are not enough spots for every room, so when the hotel is full, you might have to find street parking, which is very easy to find before 11am and after 5pm. Between those hours you might have to park a few blocks away. - there is no a/c but you don't really need it because the temperatures are so moderate and a fan is enough at night especially if you keep the windows open.

I booked this place through *******. One day after I was able to cancel, which was the day before my stay for my class reunion, I realized when looking at my booking that ******* switched available days on me so it booked it for arriving Sunday leaving Monday instead of Saturday leaving Sunday (because Saturday want available) which did me no good. I called the motel several times to talk to the manager to see if they would still refund my money and the clerk took down my message and gave it to the manager. Each time I called her wasn't available. I finally spoke with him and he said it has to be some through ******* (******* already told me it has to be done through him). So I told him I would call them if he would approve it. He said he would. Fast forward and after several messages from ******* that they were still trying to contact the manager, they said he would not give me a refund as he told me he would. I would never stay there again because this manager lied and let trying to dodge me instead of just telling me no in the first place. I'm sure that room rented out since they were full for that night. I stayed at Avila Village Inn instead. The place was beautiful and the staff was wonderful. Don't trust the manager (Shawn) at the Inn at Avila Beach. I really thought it would be a nice place to stay again, but not after dodging me and being lied to unnecessarily.

The Inn was quaint. Reminded us of the Madonna Inn because of the rooms. Quiet and great location. Breakfast was excellent with an ocean view. Made to order speciality coffees. Croissants were amazing. Service for breakfast was very nice. Parking is not an issue. The staff was cordial and welcoming. Recommended!

When I called to use my $100 gift card, they told me that it was no good anymore, due to new management taking over the business. Beware of buying any gift cards there because they do not honor their commitments. It’s unfortunate, even if it is new management.

Apparently they changed owners and will not honor gift cards. No warning or notice... will neter give them my business again. My family and extended family has stayed multiple times over the years. They simply do not care and will not entertain any conversation about it. Why would gift cards even be offered if your just going to screw people over.
