Klein-Aus Vista Desert Horse Inn

Had to visit the main lodge to check in as we were staying in the Eagles Nest Chalets which are located 7kms away. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. The lodge has a lovely bar/ restaurant , curios shop, swimming pool and the shops sells a few supplies . They have both chalets and a camp site next to the main lodge but all guests can access the facilities. They offer a wonderful braai pack that you can order from a menu selection , which they pack up in basket ready for you to take to your accommodation to cook. The portions sizes are huge, ours lasted us 2 nights . We visited the main lodge every morning for breakfast and they had a good selection of cold items, some items they cooked to order and a range of home baked goods. It was my husbands 60th birthday whist we were there and I ordered a cake from the main lodge. We stopped off for coffee on the way back from a day trip and the staff brought it out for us . It was meant to be a small cake for two but it was huge! We ate it for several days afterwards , a great car snack whilst travelling . They also gave my husband a bottle of bubble and some birthday balloons

This is my second visit camping at Klein Aus Vista. The campsites are well laid out, with a tap and braai. The ablutions are close enough and are clean and well lit. Janneman, the night security guard is super friendly and came past and introduced himself and let me know that he will be doing his rounds with his dogs during the night and gave his cell number in case there is anything I need. As I was camping alone, this gave me peace of mind. I will definitely be back and stay longer next time.

We stayed here for 2 nights, in a Desert Horse Inn room (a semi-detached cabin with balcony and indoor seating area. (NB The drive here from Sossusvlei is through some lovely scenery; do take the D707 loop if you have time). The Desert Horse Inn has cabins and a separate camping area. Wifi is only in the main building, where breakfast and dinner are served, and there is a pool. The food is very good. There are a number of walks from the site; we took the Vista Trail which led up to a fabulous viewpoint over the plains looking to the west, with an amazing sunset. We visited Luderitz on our middle day, an hour or so on a fast road (past a viewing point for the "wild" horses).

I have stayed twice at the Desert Horse Inn, it is superb, beautiful vistas, great accommodation and the food was exceptional. Well done!

This Gondwana Lodge is one of the best! Everything was just perfect. The food, the rooms, staff and activities.

Lovely stop over after a few days rough camping! Lovely clean crisp white bedding, warm rooms & delicious supper.
