Klein-Aus Vista Desert Horse Inn

We spent two nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If we had known there was such an extensive network of hiking trails we would have spent an extra day to do more hiking. It is well located for a day trip to Lüderitz, and seeing the wild horses of the Namib was special. The accommodation is great, the food is wonderful, and the staff are all exceedingly friendly and helpful.

I LOOOVED this campsite. I had a huge sociable weaver nest in the tree in my campsite and I literally watched them for hours. There is a hike to a mind-blowing sunset view that starts right at the campsite (which I liked so much that I did it twice). The stars here are also insane. The campsites are shaded and have wind breaks, and the ablution block is nice! There is a huge pool with lots of sun loungers at the reception area, and the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. I didn’t stay in the lodge, but took a peek at one of the rooms and they also look very nice. This was one of my favourite campsites in the southern part of Namibia, and I’m glad I stayed here instead of in Luderitz. I also like how affordable their campsite is in comparison with other ones in Namibia. I even managed to find the famous desert horses about 15 minutes away from Klein Aus Vista - truly a beautiful moment.

We camped under a fairly shady tree with a HUGE weaver nest in it. While it was entertaining to watch the weavers, it did limit the space to sit under the tree, as their droppings were a risk, and their constant presence under the tree to fly up into the nest carrying nesting made it not pleasant to sit under the tree. Only one other site had a nest. Just our bad luck.

Lovely camping sites and great walking/hiking/biking trails at Klein-Aus Vista. And, of course, the view from the lookout point. Lodge staff give wonderful service with yummy food.

The parking was a bit of a problem which we had to sort out our selves. The rest of the stay was perfect

This was our second stay at the Desert Horse Inn. It’s one of our favourites in Namibia and we’ll keep coming back here. The place has a ‘home-like’ feel to it. The team is amazing, food is plenty, and views are stunning. The rooms are simple, comfortable, and everything is so well taken care of and maintained. You can tell that the team pours a lot of love into keeping up the Desert Horse Inn. Thanks for having us.
