Residence Inn Austin Lake Travis/River Place

I have stayed in several Residence Inns over the years, and this one really was not up to their standards we have experienced in the past: poor AC in halls and dining area. Moved an ottoman and food underneath. The breakfast was really pretty bad, had to go to the front desk to get water..?? I will say the young man at the front desk, VERY pleasant and helpful. Would NOT recommend unless you had to be in that part of town.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights because it’s located close to relatives we were visiting. We were happy with our suite but other aspects of the hotel came up short. We had a one bedroom suite that was large and well maintained with a nice kitchen. It was pretty typical for a Residence Inn. The bathroom area was average size. One problem with the room, typical for Residence Inns, is limited storage space in the bedroom. We had to keep one of our two suitcases in the living room . We had TVs in both the bedroom and living room with a decent number of channels. We had the fast internet option and it was below average. Parking is free but there aren’t many spots near the front entrance. Breakfast was sub-par. Residence Inns often have good breakfasts but the ones here aren’t as good as what you get at a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express. The variety of food is pretty limited and is also inconsistent. E.g. they only offered waffles on our first day. Water pitchers and real plates were only offered on our last day. The woman who checked us in and most of the other employees were unfriendly and indifferent. The Australian woman at the front desk was friendly but that was about it. They only clean rooms every three days. I find it cheesy that Marriott uses the pandemic as an excuse to cut back services. If you’re going to cut back on service, reduce the price. Overall not a bad place to stay but it could be better.

OUTSTANDING property. Stayed here after a poor experience with a Fairfield in Austin and it was totally worth the drive and extra money. Beautiful hotel and outstanding staff. Damaris greeted us with a smile and went above and beyond to amke sure our stay was great. Would absolutely stay here again.
