Rivertrees Country Inn

Rivertrees Country Inn was a lush oasis that we stayed at for two nights at the beginning of our safari, and then used the country house and rooms on our way back for a respite in the middle of our traveling back home. The locations and grounds are very beautiful and the colobus and black-faced velvet monkeys added to the enjoyment of the property. The food was very good and there were plenty of choices for all the meals. The gift shop was well-stocked with reasonable prices. The service was slow at times in the restaurant and bar, otherwise this would have been five stars.

We came to Tanzania and extra day before our safari to rest. It was booked through our Safari provider Thompson Safaris. The staff was very welcoming. We were given plum juice and a hot towel when we arrived which was fantastic after the sixteen hours in planes and airports that we had endured. It’s well-laid out. Our room was well-appointed. The bed is very comfortable. The shower and bathroom very nice. Seeing other accommodations around Arusha, this property is designed for Western travelers and was a great stay for us. The best part was the monkeys flying around the trees in the morning crashing down in our cabin roof and playing on the grounds. They were hilarious. The staff helped us get a guide to take us to Arusha and see some sites. He was ok but we wouldn’t book him again in the future. The only negative thing we can say about this property is petty but for what you pay to stay there and if you have full board they still charge you for a Coke at dinner. That seemed silly to to me. Fantastic property. Would definitely stay here again and/or recommend to others.

Very pleasant accommodation between the Kilimanjaro airport and the ciry ofAusha. The huts are spacious and clean, the grouds are well established and catered for. Nice staff, food in the restaurant was decent, and the bar well stocked. You can arrange some outings at the Rivertree, if you wish to do so. Medium price range.

We only stayed for one night but definitely wish we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy everything that was on offer. Our lodge was spacious and clean with a wonderful bathtub and walk-in shower. The breakfast buffet was delicious and all staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend starting/ending your Tanzanian adventure here.

We as most people got to this lodge to sleep after the very early arrival in the airport. We decided to stay one more night to come down. Good decision. We were greeted at 3 something am and shown to our nice villa. Ample space, nice bathroom with all amenities and a comfy bed. All very clean. Drinking water is provided. We were woken up at 8am by some monkeys walking over our roof, a common experience there. First meal was lunch, a buffet and to order, very tasty and well prepared but be careful, the portions are large. The whole Inn is in a large garden with a river on one side which offers nice walks and monkeys of different species are around as well as a lot of birds. The pool is more on the small and cool side but makes for a relaxing afternoon. Just watching the wildlife. Dinner was outside with some begging cats and again, very tasty food in large portions. Cocktails were well prepared and beer was cold. Breakfast was also a very nice affair with enough choice. All in all a very good place to start a safari tour. One thing though, they charged us twice for our beers and claimed a connction issue with the first payment.
