Valsana Hotel Arosa - Small Luxury Hotel

We stayed for a long weekend in a premium double room which was excellent. Even though we were on the 1st floor and overlooking the road the room was silent and the bed very comfortable (especially the pillows). The spa is great - two large saunas and one steam room. The staff were fabulous from start to finish, esp the front desk who made every effort to ensure my wife’s spa appointment was made possible after a mix up with the times. We opted for the “dine around” half board option which was definitely worth doing. The highlight was going up to the hotel’s Alpenblick restaurant on the mountain for dinner. We were met at the base of the mountain by the restaurant’s snow mobile and were whisked up to the warm and cosy lodge where we had the most amazing meal by the log fire. The staff in the Alpenblick were as great as the food and it was by far the most enjoyable meal of the 3 nights. At the end of the meal you are taken back down to the bottom of the slope and were met by the Valsana’s driver to go back to the hotel. We took our meal for the 2nd night in the main restaurant of the Valsana’s (very grown up) sister hotel the Tschuggen Grand. 5 courses were included in the HB option and whilst it was a delicious meal we felt it all to be slightly OTT (jackets and chinos are the order of the day which seems a bit much in a ski resort). For the final night we ate in the Valsana, where sadly we felt the menu to be a bit confused. Nothing really stood out but that might be because we’re predominantly meat eaters rather than vegetarians. Finally as others have said we found the CHF6 charge for a bottle of tap water was a bit much - please stop it! In summary though I’d definitely go back to the Valsana’s, and I’d also highly recommend the Alpenblick experience.

From the moment we arrived at this stunning hotel in Arosa, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Nestled amidst the breathtaking Swiss Alps, the location offers unparalleled views and a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. Their hospitality was evident in every interaction, from the welcoming check-in to the thoughtful recommendations for local activities. Our room was beautifully appointed, combining modern comforts with traditional Swiss charm. The plush bedding ensured a restful night's sleep, and waking up to the panoramic mountain views was simply magical. Dining at the hotel was a highlight of our stay. The on-site restaurant offered a delectable menu that showcased local ingredients, and each meal was a culinary delight. The breakfast buffet was particularly impressive, featuring a wide array of fresh pastries, cheeses, and fruits to start the day off right. For those looking for relaxation, the hotel’s wellness center was a sanctuary. After a day of skiing or hiking, indulging in the spa treatments and unwinding in the sauna was the perfect way to recharge. Arosa itself is a charming village with plenty of outdoor activities year-round, and the hotel’s proximity to hiking trails and ski slopes made it an ideal base for our adventures. Overall, our experience at this hotel was nothing short of extraordinary. It’s a place where luxury meets nature, and we can’t wait to return to create more unforgettable memories. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the beauty and tranquility of Arosa!

What a lovely hotel. Its very Eco, sustainable, very well positioned for both a walking holiday or a ski holiday and a short walk from the train station. The rooms were very clean and we had a lovely view of the mountains. Staff were super helpful and the day starts with a lovely breakfast buffet. Only downsides, the sitting area downstairs is very dark in the evening, and a big minus is that we asked for tap water at dinner and they charged 6 swiss francs for it, which was quite ridiculous as it is put in the rooms free of charge. We ate out after that and we were not charged in any other restaurants in Arosa for water. For a hotel promoting health and wellbeing tap water should be provided free of charge. However in spite of that we would definitely stay there again a lovely atmosphere, lovely people, nothing was too much trouble so thankyou for a fabulous stay.

The location in Arosa is good - across the lake from the Weisshorn tram. The rooms are new and comfortable, and of good size. - including the balcony The bedding was especially good. The rooms overlooking the lake are better; the views can be a bit limited otherwise. The spa is fairly nice, with an indoor pool, two saunas, a relaxation room, and a yoga room. Though there is an outdoor lounge area, there is not an outdoor pool, nor are there hot pools. The breakfast was the worst we had in Switzerland, and the dinner was not much better. After the first day we grabbed breakfast items from the coop grocery store attached to the hotel (which is very convenient for other needs as well). Instead of eating dinner at their restaurant Twist, order the fondue brought to your balcony - that was very good and worked great with a group. The food is far below the standards of the other Tschuggen group hotel, the Grand Tschuggen, which is located further up the mountain. We ended up eating there instead of Twist (an easy free bus ride). For skiing, definitely pick the Grand Tschuggen - it is worth the extra cost.

AMAZING hotel, staff, rooms, experience, service, location and vibes. We came as a family with kids and this is our second time at Valsana. The hotel has only 40 rooms, so staff knows you by name and is responsive to any request you might have. Rooms are very modern, spacious and have everything you need. It’s a truly green hotel. They don’t even use plastic pens, only wooden pencils. The hotel manager Claudio is the kindest and most carrying hotel manager we have ever met. We wish every manager in every hotel was like this. He took us mushroom picking in the forest last time. Highly recommend it. The fitness and pool are top end. The sauna is the just place to be after a long day hiking or skiing. Breakfast is great and dinner menu is also worth exploring. We plan to be back next year.

Pro - super attentive service fast and helpful with tips like the local bus or a nice walk - Very roomy rooms with shower & bath with big sun terrace - Nice Spa and sauna facilities good to relax after a hiking or skiing - Location: Next door is a supermarket & train station is 5 mins walk away. Small Cons - entrance of the lobby is on the first floor and during the night you have to enter in the back of the building this is a bit confusing. - Quite a lot of light switches, took us a day to learn
