Sunstar Hotel Arosa

I stayed in the Sunstar Arosa for a week with a family party from 19 - 26th February 2022 and can thoroughly recommend everything about this hotel. The staff were superb - charming, helpful and efficient, the rooms were excellent and as for the food…..it was delicious from start to finish every day. A great choice of menu, everything was fresh and well cooked and very well presented. The hotel facilities were superb - there were 15 of us including 6 children and there was something for everyone - a pool, bowling, play areas and a wellness centre. The bar was welcoming - and the bar staff friendly and attentive. We all enjoyed ourselves enormously - this was the second time we had stayed in a Sunstar, 2 years ago we were in Davos, and yet again we we were so impressed with everything in the hotel. A couple of comments which might be helpful in the future: The minibus shuttle was very good (and excellent driver) but sometimes there was quite a scrum in the mornings when lots of guests had to get to the slopes in time for ski school. Maybe a bigger minibus or a second one might have been useful? Also I gather that the Ski Room was congested and could maybe be updated to accommodate more pairs of skis/boots. However overall a 5 star review and I look forward to staying there again one day!

We liked the situation, transportation, employees, peaceful. A few years ago dinners were served better than this year. We although care of our environment and understand that we don't throw food products into the waste bin.

I was in the hotel lounge bar, waiting for a group of colleagues, since I arrived first a waitress came to me asking if I wanted to order something, I told her I'd like to have a Moscow Mule (I had to repeat the name of the drink 5 times in English and German, but she didn't understand until I showed her on the menu list). The remaining part of the group areived abd everyone ordered their drinks. After 30 minutes everybody in my group was served, except me (I ordered first!). The room manager approached our table and stared at me asking if I wanted to order, I kindly replied to her that I had already ordered, but that I was still waiting because my drink never came, suggesting that maybe they had forgotten. Anyway I was very calm, it takes 2 minutes to prepare such drink and there was absolutely no problem for me, it can happen to forget an order She started to scream at me in a definitely angry way, saying I needed to have patience that I was being unpolite and that they had staff problems (they were actually 4 behind the counter, and the number of guests in the bar that night was around 30 people). She agressed me with undelicate words and said I couldn't expect to be served in the exact same moment I ordered (nb. Now 45 mins later). She shouted that they hadn't forgotten my drink and that they were busy in the bar. I was sincerely shocked by this behavior, as nothing in my comment was disappointed or stressed, and to be addressed like this really came out of the blue for me. I would never expect such a treatment by anyone, the most astonishing thing is that this was a 4 stars hotel, and the lack of respect of this woman was completely unbelievable. After 10 more minutes my drink never came, so I stopped the first waitress and asked her once more. After a total of more than 1h I could finally "enjoy" my drink, although my colleagues had all finished theirs. The following day we found a panel saying that the bar that night would close at 23:00 and that's external guests were no longer accepted in the hotel's bar. Say no more, I won't even bother to come back and be treated without respect for no reason.

Hotel Sun Star Arosa was fantastic for our ski holiday,great location,wonderful food,super relaxing well ness area with views of mountain. Rooms light and all you need,plenty of space for clothes and ski wear

Great location for families. Kids play room, swimming pool, transferts to ski departure ! Nice staff and good food! The breakfast buffet is really nice. Small gesture like Xmas drinks and waffles is nice.

Wir waren mit der Firma 2 Nächte zu Gast im Sunstar Arosa. Das Zimmer war sauber und ordentlich, Der Wellness- Bereich ist schön, grosszügig und vielseitig, ebenso das Hallenbad. Der Service, sowohl bei der Rezeption als auch im Restaurant, entsprach absolut nicht der Preisklasse, für das sich das Hotel hält. Das Personal ist ungeschult und verstand es nicht, die Gäste richtig zu bedienen. Leider war keine Linie von Professionalität sichtbar, alles wurde einfach irgendwie gemacht. Dabei passierten gravierende Fehler, die in einem 4-Sternhotel nicht passieren dürften. Der 80-fränkige Rotwein wurde in einem Weissweinglas eingeschenkt, die Teller wurden dem Gast irgendwie vor die Nase gestellt, Bestellungen falsch aufgenommen. Die Küche war höchstens Mittelmass, kein Gang war speziell oder Extraklasse. Alles schmeckte durchschnittlich, teilweise fad und war nicht saisonal. Im Weiteren waren wir erstaunt, als wir 55-Jährige mit "Du" angesprochen wurden. In der Jugendherberge ist das passend, in einem Hotel in diesem Preissegment empfanden wir das störend und völlig unpassend. Wir glauben nicht, dass dieses Konzept längerfristig erfolgreich sein wird. Kurz gesagt, Küche und Personal entsprechen nicht dem Preisniveau eines 4-Sterne Hotels. Privat würden wir deshalb nicht in dieses Hotel zurückkommen.
