Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp

We were so, so happy with our choice of the Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp! We had to change the day of our booking with short notice because of a flight delay but communicating with Hassan and Mohammed through booking and WhatsApp was easy and they were very accommodating. We stayed in 2 of the dome tents and the experience was everything that I hoped for. The dome tent windows are kept shaded (drapes outside and curtains inside) during the heat of the afternoon but once the heat broke, staff members came over to undrape the tent and wash the window panes (glass) for an amazing desert view. No scuffed plastic or dusty window panes here! I know that AC is not be part of an authentic experience but we were very grateful for the cool air after a hot drive down from Petra. Overall the whole room was extremely comfortable - great bed and pillows, a big sofa, indoor and outdoor seating areas, a good sized shower and bathroom. The rooms are designed so that you have plenty of privacy and the common areas for meals are well designed and spacious with great views. Relaxing after dinner and watching the stars come out on the patio is one of my favorite memories from our trip. The camp has a great location in Wadi Rum, with a perfect sunset spot is on the rocks right behind the main tent. It's just a 2 minute walk from the Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp while other people had to be driven in and leave early for dinner. Food was SUCH a highlight of our stay. I wasn't sure if there would be fewer dishes served because of the few tourists in Jordan right now but that was not the case, we were incredibly spoiled with delicious options. Dinner was well worth it, all of the food from the Zarb was so good, perfect chicken skin, roasted veggies, plus all of the side dishes. Breakfast at the camp was probably my favorite meal over 2 weeks in Turkey and Jordan, everything was so delicious but the eggs plus stewed tomato side dish were stars. And again, so many options, we were truly spoiled.

I got fooled by the 5 star rating. Never again. This is a $30/night hotel. We stayed in both the Bubble and deluxe triple tent. Cons (all pics attached) - miss cut pieces of overlapping carpet everywhere that someone cut (probably with school scissors) in both bubble and tent rooms by hand and plopped it in there (mgmt said: sometimes kids mess with the carpet?? And “we can’t buy carpet in one piece”) -within 15mins of checking in curtain fell apart when opened gently (mgmt: “when I brought you to your room it wasn’t like that”) -within 15mins of checking in bathroom bar fell when towel was placed atop (mgmt: we can fix that) -ants all over in the bathroom (mgmt: either you dropped something sweet or “we’re in a dessert”) after just checking in! -what looked like blood all over bathroom wall area was paint (mgmt: when they were painting, the door slammed closed from the wind and splattered paint everywhere???) -no hot water in BOTH tents (mgmt: “it’s working fine but let me go check”; nothing was fixed) -bubble tent had bad water damage along entirety of window and wreaked of mold. Bring a mold testing kit and test for it for your own safety. - they limit the rooms they make available on booking sites (e.g. 1 left!) to make it look like they are full. It was virtually empty. -Dirty towels (mgmt: it’s hard to get dessert stains out) when I asked for a towel the man grabbed towels from a back room that he tried to hide which was absolutely horrid with mixture of linens, mechanical work and chemicals etc. I shivered thinking what the kitchen looks like. -Price: Ridiculously high versus comparable tents -breakfast started almost 30 mins after start. But not bc of any issue, they were just non-chalant about it all. -they said to me I paid too much for the rooms because I used the booking website where they jack up all the prices. They said to call them next time. Haha Pros (just one but not really) -the main family owner is nice and appears to be trying but the other brother gets an attitude when you bring a complaint to him -View, but honestly having done the jeep tour most camps have a decent view. Tent view ironically better than bubble view since nothing blocking in front. -Didn’t do their Jeep tour. Just pick a good jeep tour like Wildwadirumtours and do it before you check in; it’s cheaper and is better, based on the reviews this camp got.

Beautiful area, very friendly staff. Food is incredible Wifi wasn’t the best in hut. Also done sunset safari which I would highly recommend .camels in sunrise isn’t the best and one of them tried to bite my friend and he fell off. It’s a short walk to watch sunset from camp so I would recommend just walking

The Camp is amazing, the room so comfortable and luxurious, incredible water pressure, nice bed and pillows, the views from the room are outstanding, the breakfast amazing, the staff super nice. But above all, the 6 hours tour was unforgettable, Ali the guide highly recomendable, so close and patient answering all our questions (some of them quite personal), the 6 hours pass by in two seconds. We will never forget our experience in the Wadi Rum Desert, everything was perfect. Don't miss It.
