Almost everything was perfect- extremely nice staff, clean, great food (loved Saturday dinner with cousines from different countries), the most beautiful beach in front of the hotel and bus stop nearby. The only thing I didn’t like was French as a main language in the hotel instead of English, but it’s understandable as the hotel is mainly advertised by a French travel agency.

Food, place, beach, sea etc. are all great. The only problem was water they served, it tasted chemically, like pool water (chlorine), we had to buy bottled water. French animators were less loud than last time. 9/10, will propably visit again.

As usual (after three visits) the hotel was great and my experience didn't (almost) degrade. Food, room, sea, nearly everything. The only problem was a bad, chemical taste of served water, we had to buy bottled water this time. Tasted like pool water for some reason. On the other hand, french animators were less loud than last time, as there were less guests in the hotel in October. There were a lot more Germans and Czechs there than I remember from previous visits. Other problem was that the hotel is far from Heraklion and bus ride there takes over two hours (with stops in other hotels), but that is a problem of my travel agency, who has no flights to Chania.

5☆ Hotel & beach & room. 5☆ reception & Housekeeping staff. 0☆ Restaurant manager, totally ignored us & the Germans. Very ignorant towards us. 3,☆ Hotel staff, doing just enough to get by to end of season. 3/5 ☆ Food. Sometimes amazing & Sometimes Very average at best. 3☆ Cocktails, limited selection & weak. 0☆ French entertainment staff, totally & utterly ignored the British & Germans. Made 0% attempt to involve us in anything. Even though we were next to the place they held there games. If your looking for a wonderful hotel near to an a amazing beach & you don't mind being ignored because your not french. I would go here. If you want to take part in all the things the hotel offers. Then this is NOT the place. 5☆ Hotel 2☆ Holiday experience.

The best holidays ever. Perfect hotel, nice and clean room, good food, friendly personnel, clear water and nice beach.It was our second holidays at Mare Monte beach hotel and we will come back for sure next year together with all our family.

The hotel was great. The staff smiling and with a professional attitude . The food excellent and the views of the sea thanks to the great location. The only minus of the whole hotel is the animation agency. Unless you are an elderly client from France they are arrogant and can't even say hello Otherwise the stay was great and as a whole I give 4,5 stars out of 5

I'm going to start by saying this is a nice hotel in a great location. The beach is amazing, the rooms are kept spotless by a great housekeeping team, who along with the reception team are very friendly. A couple of things let this place down however. We were aware when we booked this is a predominantly French hotel & the entertainment is conducted predominantly in French with announcements of activities also announced in (pretty bad!) English. What we didn't expect was to be totally ignored by the whole animation team who were constantly asking all other French guests to join activities whilst ignoring the English & German guests. Pretty much the same with the waiting staff unfortunately including the Maitre D. Kind of leaves a nasty taste. Food is OK, amazing some nights, but pretty poor others with some potato dishes undercooked & very limited vegetable choice (usually 1) salad fairly limited compared to other cretian 4star hotels too. Drinks are nothing to get excited about either, limited choice & weak cocktails. Walk along the beach a bit for great cocktail bars. We've had a great week as we don't mind amusing ourselves but if you're English or German & want to feel included, this is probably the wrong hotel for you.

Everything was perfect - cleaning, food, sea, beach, pool, bars. The hotel has no slides or waterslides and only one pool. But you don't really need that when you have a perfect beach with a gradual entrance to the sea. Avoid room 432, it's too close to the exhaust from the kitchen hood, which hums almost 24 hours a day.

Very beautiful, clean hotel, helpful and friendly staff, excellent cuisine. The hotel is right next to the beach. Sufficient number of umbrellas and sunbeds on the hotel beach and also by the pool (all is free). We always found a free parasol. A clean sandy beach with a gradual entrance to the sea.
