Monastery Estate Retreat

Breath taking views every morning and evening made this an amazing stay. The staff made you feel like family. The amazing breakfast was well worth the €14 and I highly suggest you get the Cretan breakfast. many thanks to Georgia and everyone on property for making our stay magical. I cannot wait to come and see you again. If you can stay in suite number 12, you will not only have a private pool, but a private hot tub as well. The bed was very comfortable and the room was beautiful.

I’m sure when the property was new it would have been quite stylish even though it would still have been as uncomfortable as it is today. Style over function seems to have been the philosophy of the person who designed the rooms with never any intention of ever staying in them. Fancy a private plunge pool as promised on the website? Wrong! It’s a shared pool with the guests next door who are kept out of ‘your side’ by a tatty looking shark net. The gate to our pool area was broken, and quite dangerous given its at the top of a step concrete set of steps. Many of the lights in the outside area didn’t work. If I could have given a score of zero out of five I would have done, but I will concede the shower in the bathroom is very good. With any luck when you check in you will manage to avoid the rude girl with the glasses (you know who you are) and maybe by the time you arrive they will have gotten around to sorting out the unpleasant smell which pervades the premises. We paid for three nights and left after one. You would be mad to stay here.

Absolutely amazing! The energy and tranquil vibe is unreal ❤️ The staff, food, private pool, the view, the detail that went into the suites - everything is perfect! The restaurant has a small but amazing menu, allowing for locally sourced dishes that are a true culinary experience. I can't recommend it highly enough and I have a feeling that in a few years this place will be booked years in advance, so hurry before one of the best kept secrets is out ❤️

The location was exceptionally beautiful, peaceful, and immaculately clean. The entire vibe was beyond perfect for the entirety of our five day stay. The staff, Christo, Christo, Georgia and others were beyond description, they contributed greatly to our experience, both in their constant willingness to provide a perfect service as well as in their knowledge of the area, Greek culture, and local things to do. We have already suggested this incredible place to our friends. We could not have had a better experience.

We had a wonderful week at this hotel, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful throughout our stay organising taxis and boat trips. We were upgraded for our honeymoon, which was so generous, and meant we had perfect views of the mountains from our pool and hot tub! The views from the restaurant our stunning. Nice food and drinks also a small taverna nearby serving cheap local produce if you want to lock down at the retreat but still have options! The rooms were cleaned to perfection every day. The decor of the whole hotel was understated and elegant. It's a fantastic location for visiting Sougia (10 min drive) and the various gorges for hikes.

The location of the hotel in the middle of the Mountains is amazing, it is such a quiet and relaxing environment. The room was amazing with a private pool and terrace, and breathtaking views, we loved it. And the service is perfect, everybody was so just nice and so helpful, we truly enjoy it. It’s a beautiful experience to live if you are in Crete.
