It was covered in graffiti and right on the street. It was supposed to be a “bridge hotel”. It was a hovel. The photos did not show the plywood construction of the one-unit loft bed and kitchen below with narrow, spiral plywood stairs. I did not feel safe here. The internet did not work so I could not contact them. Plus I was exhausted after walking miles in Amsterdam from what they said was the convenient hotel to stow bags in until check-in time. There is no office for them and no person in charge during the weekend. It is all online. This “new concept” is not hospitable to travelers and is the “old concept” of scam. They replied to an email on Tuesday. I stayed on Saturday. It is apparently a venture by Seven New Things in contract with the city of Amsterdam. They refused any offer to make good. I wasn’t expecting any. I should have read the reviews on their website. Few seem happy with it. If this helps someone else avoid the overpriced SWEETS, that is enough. Amsterdam has lovely small hotels. Try the Leonardo chain. I stayed there earlier and wish I hadn’t wanted to try this one.
