Blue Marine Resort and Spa Hotel

From the moment we arrived at this all-inclusive resort, we felt completely taken care of. The check-in process was smooth and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained, with stunning views and all the amenities we could ask for. Housekeeping did a fantastic job each day. The resort also had plenty of activities to enjoy, from poolside entertainment to spa treatments and evening shows. There was never a dull moment, yet we could also find quiet spots to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Overall, this all-inclusive hotel exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to return!

The Blue Marine Resort and Spa is a well designed and well run all-inclusive family hotel. It delivers on its concept in its price class. I travelled with two teen daughters and we enjoyed our stay: the buffet was good and varied, the facilities were attractive and nicely maintained and staff was considerate. The beach side infrastructure is very good and this was our favourite spot for most of our stay. Of special note is the spa, which has been newly renovated and has a clean, relaxing vibe. The renovation was being completed when we arrived and there were some snags, but the staff compensated with the warmth of their welcome and a personal consultation. My skin still feels great from the scrub and mask and I enjoyed the facial treatment, but the highlight was the back and neck massage. I have had many efficient and competent spa treatments, but this was a singular experience. The therapist was very skilled and her holistic approach worked wonders in the span of 60 minutes. I left feeling relaxed, pain free and much lighter. Well worth giving up a few hours of sunbathing! In terms of overall expectation, it is important to know that the star rating in Greece is weighted around facilities. A 5-star hotel in Greece is more like a 4-star in Switzerland (where I live), especially in terms of service polish and fine details. The resort is in a quiet area about 10 minutes from the center of Agio Nikolaos by car.

We stayed at Blue Marine end of September into October. The hotel is very nice, rooms clean all inclusive meals have plenty of variety. I don’t know if it was as towards end of season and staff tired made them grumpy. At breakfast we observed staff having huge arguments on more than one occasion. Which didn’t make for a relaxing breakfast. Coffee was thin on the ground, would have eaten meal and ready to go before someone would come over with pot even after asking. Guests up very early to reserve loungers around pool and beach. You will be in the shade if you sleep in. Some beds not used most of the day with towels and books on them. Towels left on beach beds for a couple of hours. A lady with 2 young children sat on the bed watching her children play in sand and sea. The ‘owner’ of the towels arrived and swiftly moved lady on. One couple on the beach bar deck had reserved beds on the beach and on the deck. Moving between the 2 areas during the day. As there was not enough beds for everyone this was selfish of them. Not hotels fault but should have been monitored. The pool bar staff, lady and young girl pleasant. The gentleman was so grumpy. Would snap asking for our order, again lots of arguing, with members of staff storming off, leaving him to slice fruit with a huge queue. Ana who ran the beach bar is a huge credit to the hotel. Every day she smiled and made conversation. Cocktails are good, Room was very clean no issues with noise. Our meal at the grill was the nicest of our stay. The staff in this area very nice and friendly. Snack opens at 3pm for ice cream, cakes and sandwiches which were delicious. I don’t like to write negative reviews, on this occasion made an exception due to the staff being rude and all the arguments between them.

Came to Blue Marine mid June on a Jet2 package. Process was a smooth and plain sailing throughout, reps the other end to guide us to the right coach. Was around an hour and 40 min transfer which was what was predicted by Jet2 and well worth it to reach a quieter location in Crete with stunning views. Heraklion airport is on the other had not great, but that’s for another review. Upon arrival was greeted at the front desk by two lovely ladies on reception, who explained the whole process for the al a carte restaurants, gave us a guide for all the inclusive benefits and a QR code for there handy app. This was where you could book into restaurants and had all other information you needed on what was on each day and what different services were available, great touch. Room was stunning, whole hotel was immaculately clean so credit to the cleaners on that front. Modern layout in the room and was a bit quirky but adds to the experience I guess. Toilet is closed off, then have. Warbrobe and cupboards, next to a sink and mirror. Shower was then off the bedroom, but due to heat (was 32’c everyday we were there) getting out the shower and being hit with the air con was welcomed. We paid extra for the sea view room and wow, what a picturesque location it is, was lovely waking up to the beach view everyday and did a fair few Timelapse’s of the sunrise. We got towels for the room, along with pool towels and beach towels so had everything we could possibly need. The pool was lovely, fresh water so bit salty but two showers to rinse off after you get out, never struggled to get a sun lounger, all have a umbrella fixed into the ground so everyone can get out the sun if they need (and trust me sometimes you need to), pool and pool area was always clean. Pool bar was great, never had to wait long for a drink and the bar staff were friendly, various options for cocktails etc, fave of mine was the “Freddo Cappuccino” which is essentially an iced coffee, there were lovely in the morning. Also like to mention the young lad who walked the pool everyday collecting used glasses to return to the bar. Such a nice friendly lad, not pushy to talk to you but always gave a friendly ‘Hello’ and was an absolute credit to the team there, really set the tone of mood around the pool everyday. All I can say if let the poor lad jump in the pool every now and then, he must have been roasting during the day! Beach was lovely, sand was quite thick and hot so recommend sliders/flip flops to walk to the sea with. Loungers right side of the bar were quite difficult to get, this was the better area for the sea as the left side was mainly rocky into the sea. Crystal clear water was amazing, the rocky side of the beach was great for snorkelling as plenty of tropical fish floating around. Beach bar just like the pool bar was lovely, never that long a wait and had the addition of snacks, Pizza, burgers and hot dogs, so should you not want to leave the beach for lunch, you could quite easil

Currently writing this while sat on the beach. We have had a great time. Check in quick- bell boy took our luggage to the room. Room beautiful, large and spotlessly clean. I didn’t mind the layout but my husband thought it was strange. Main restaurant- lovely food, plenty of choice. All staff really friendly, apart from who i assume is the boss man, I have given up trying to make him smile! A la carte grill- fab food with amazing views. You won’t be disappointed. A la carte Italian- decent menu and the food was lovely. A la carte Asian- very disappointing. Cold bland food. Book all of the al a carts at the desk near reception. Pool area is gorgeous with lovely views but a little smelly! Sun goes behind the hotel around 3.30 so choose your spot wisely. Beach- amazing. The further to the left you are the most of the days sun you will get. Drinks at both pool and beach bar are really good. Warm during the day, cooler on an evening, definitely bring a jacket. It was advertised there was entertainment every evening, we didn’t go to it and we never heard any of it. 20 minute walk into the next small town with a beautiful beach. Bus outside hotel to Agios Nikolas or taxi for 12 euro. Hotel far from airport, I believe up to 2hours on coach. We paid 70 euro for a taxi here but will get the transfer coach back.

My daughter fell and het her head on the wet steps that had no wet sign. The manager was rude and unconcern. After we insisted that we spesk with him he question why didn't we go to the hospital insead of waiting for him. I asked for an insident report to be written up. He said he would have it ready the next day. After going to the hospital we asked to speak to him again to give him the paper work the doctor and the hospital gave us. He said the reciept and the after care instrutions was not proof we went to the hospital. He then refused to wtite an incident report. Being in an another country I could do nothing. Although the staff was wonderful I won't be visiting this resort again. To have a manager that has no concern for his guest is unacceptable.
