Outside of the stellar location, this hotel is simply lacking in so many areas. While the people are nice, and the grounds beautiful, this review centers mostly on the overall experience we felt deserving of a three. The hotel is dated. Obviously it’s an old building. Outside of the historic decor, the rooms and common areas need a massive renovation. Tattered rugs. Chipping paint. Etc. Little attention is paid to overall modern comforts one gas cone yo expect at a price point and level paid for this hotel. Bath did bot have even a shower curtain. Lacked hand towels and were not replaced daily. I understand being environmentally conscious. But they took this to mean no towels replaced. Period. As for the breakfast, i assure you that you will want to eat elsewhere. We had reservations at the “Michelin” rated restaurant, but cancelled as a result of the low quality food we received at an astounding cost. Eggs and chewy beef were always cold. Coffee service from a machine that offered sub par beans and little to any choices. The machine mostly provided watered down results. When get a better coffee at a Starbucks, you know you’ve hit bottom. No real choices for fresh fruit. Orange juice from a can. Given this is France, we expected delicious croissants and bread. Safe to say, neither existed on this Holiday Inn buffet. We expected more from such a beautiful hotel with exceptional location. Sadly, it was not to be.
