One of the best accommodations in my trip. Clean and tidy facilities, big bed. Also the breakfast is perfect!

Had a lovely stay at Hillsdale. The accommodation was second to none, very homely and attention to detail was outstanding. Everything about the accommodation was first class, decor, furnishings, bed, linen etc were pristine. The breakfast was delicious and very high quality produce was used, also served piping hot. Steve and Caz were friendly and welcoming. The added bonus of nearby free parking was brilliant. A well run establishment which we will definitely return to when visiting Ambleside.

Me and my partner went for a 2 day stay, Thursday to Saturday. Right from when we made our booking, Our hosts Steve and Kaz were amazing. The actual B&B was beautiful, inside and out, everything was immaculate including our room, the place felt like a home from home. We also really enjoyed the freshly cooked breakfast, again everything was really nice and tasted excellent. Steve and Kaz went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay, they were so helpful and informative with regards to where to eat and what to do whilst we were there! We cannot thank them enough! All around perfect and we will definitely be going back to stay here again. A full 5 out of 5 stars! Highly recommended if you’re looking for a lovely place with very high standards in Ambleside! See you again soon! :)

This was our 3rd stay at Hillsdale guest house! Always a pleasure to stay there! Steve and Caz could not be more welcoming hosts. Room spotless, cosy an warm, along with a lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast was as always, delicious and lots to choose from. Perfect location, Literally 2 mins walk in to the heart of Ambleside! Could not recommend Hillsdale highly enough! Love it! We certainly will be back. Thank you both if another fabulous welcome an stay

Just back from a lovely weekend at Hillsdale. Location is perfect and right in the centre of Ambleside, rooms are really well appointed and spotlessly clean. Fabulous breakfast with great veggie options and really set you up for the day. Caz and Steve are very personable and welcoming with loads of good local knowledge and nothing too much trouble. Off site parking just down the road and was a real bonus if you know how busy Ambleside can get - literally lock up and leave. We’ve stayed in a number of guest houses in Ambleside/Windermere and Bowness and this one is highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic location. Can’t fault this guest house spotless great breakfast order your preference the night so much better than a buffet. Caz and Steve are such brilliant hosts nothing is to much trouble. Will be booking again and will recommend

Another fantastic stay at Hillsdale in Ambleside. This was our 3rd visit and each room we have stayed in has been excellent. Very comfy beds and pillows, clean rooms and bathrooms. Caz & Steve are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them to help you. The breakfasts are amazing and there is so much to choose from. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection every time. Don't forget to pack your slippers! Leave your shoes/boots in the hall and relax in your slippers, even at breakfast.

Recently returned from another stay at Hillsdale, wouldn't stay anywhere else whilst visiting Ambleside, Steve and Caz are superb hosts, they welcome you into their home like you are family and go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. From the beautiful rooms with everything you could possibly want i.e. wine glasses, corkscrew, little hot water bottles etc. although we have never needed to to use the hot water bottle as the rooms are always very cosy, we did however make use of the wine glasses ;-) The breakfast is superb, good quality ingredients and plenty of it to set you up for the day. Already booked for the same time in 2025 and we really look forward to our visit, not only because of the great service and perfect guest house but also to see Steve and Caz again! See you next year!

What can I say about Hillsdale other than fabulous , Steve and Caz go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need and more . Super comfy bed , spotlessly clean , each room tastefully decorated. Highly recommend , great base for discovering all that the beautiful lakes have to offer, wonderful breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring. Can’t wait to visit again . Thanks to the best hosts.
