First apartment was not fit for purpose, booked for a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens & a pre-teen) First problem was the door didn’t shut properly - maintenance were out quickly however their solution was to use insulation tape around frame, masking the fact the door didn’t actually fit it! The apartment was shocking - seating for 3 people only, dining table for 4 only, kitchen disgusting and dirty, not enough cutlery/kitchen equipment to self cater, (one knife in the whole apartment), ants everywhere even after cleaning, fridge broken, oven no markings on dials and ignition didn’t fire, toilet seat broken (both) and the toilet brush 🤢 I don’t care if it’s a 1 star or 5 star hotel, there is no excuse for leaving a faeces covered brush in plain view! TUI agreed with us and managed to get us an upgrade plus compensation (it was that bad) The 2 stars are for the very helpful manager, (I’m unsure how helpful she would have been if I didn’t have the TUI rep with us) and the second apartment, which was a massive improvement. Still needed maintenance, again both toilet seats were not properly fixed to toilet and beds were the most uncomfortable things I’ve ever slept on! Ended up putting blankets underneath the sheets. Pool area was great, seemed to be cleaned regularly when we were there and didn’t have too many problems getting a sunbed, as long as you are there before 10 when it fills up. Cafe was decent for snacks (pizza, toasties, baguettes) and generally staff were friendly. Alvor is beautiful, beach is great (recommend hiring a cabana for the day) and loads of restaurants to choose from. Would we return? To Alvor - 100%, to these apartments? Never!
