Bailiffgate Hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bailiffgate hotel. Receptionist at check-in was friendly and efficient. Although no problem for us, the car park has quite a few steps but we believe the concierge will park your car. Sam brought our luggage to room 211 and kindly explained the amenities in the room. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious with luxury bedding. Likewise the bathroom, containing Jo Loves toiletries, 2 sinks, plush towels, bathrobes and slippers. The view of the Alnwick castle from our room was wonderful. We were extremely happy with everything in the room apart from storage space which was inadequate for a 5 night stay, fine if you’re staying for 1 or 2 nights. I suggested to reception that for longer stay guests a portable hanging rail would be appreciated. She thanked me for my suggestion and said it would be passed on. The attention to detail of the interior design of the hotel is exceptional with beautiful paintings, chest of drawers, comfortable lounge chairs and stunning lighting. There is also nice courtyard to sit and relax with a glass of wine Apart from one morning at breakfast, service was efficient and attentive. Food at breakfast and dinner in the Motte & Bailey restaurant was delicious and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the lamb. Location of the hotel in the Georgian quarter is close to the centre of Alnwick and perfect for touring the many attractions of Northumberland we visited each day

We had a great stay at the Bailiffgate Hotel. The rooms are perfect and have everything needed to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay. Gorgeous Jo Loves products in the bathroom. The staff were friendly and able to offer expert advice on choosing a delicious white wine to accompany our evening meal - again first class. My only disappointment was that it was our 30th Wedding Anniversary (which is why we were there) and my husband mentioned this on booking. Staff did say they would make sure there was fizz or flowers in the room. sadly, there was nothing. A small point, but something that would have made our stay even more special.

Spent a night to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, great hotel, friendly staff, very good room. Dinner, bed & breakfast option recommended. Very good drinks selection in the bar [thank you Lucy for your excellent service].

Not a brilliant experience for me. Cocktail bar expensive and drink quality. Service not up scratch. Training required I feel. Tried to book a table. Told it was fully booked all night. Two people in. Don’t like being lied to. We live in the area and not what I expected.

Stayed here with my husband and our wee boy, absolutely stunning hotel , the rooms were gorgeous , probably the nicest bathrooms we've ever had in a hotel. The car park is a bit behind the hotel and there is quite a lot of steps up to the hotel but the concierge are happy to park your car and get it back for you if you want to offload your stuff first. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and a lovely bar area etc. The only disappointment was dinner , the food was absolutely outstanding but we were 2 and a half hours from start to finish , on a Tuesday night , we had to ask for so many things as they were missed, pretty much every course there was something either wrong or missing and not just from our table , we had to ask 4 times for the bill and ultimately i had to end up leaving the dinner to take my little boy back upstairs as it took so long and leave my husband at the table , not ideal when your out for a nice meal. Totally understand the restaurant was busy but for a £150 meal and 5 star the service should've been a bit better, Breakfast also took over an hour and honeslty wasnt amazing :( Overall though, lovely hotel and it wouldn't put us off going back we just probably wouldnt eat there.

We thoroughly enjoyed a three night stay here on the occasion of my wife's 70th birthday. From the moment we arrived to our departure, we were so well looked after by a very enthusiastic team. Our bedroom was spotlessly clean and this attention to detail and cleanliness was evident right throughout the building and it's surroundings. We really enjoyed all of our meals in the restaurant, particularly dinner on the Saturday evening, and compliment the Head Chef on his choice of menus. All in all, a fantastic stay for a very special occasion and a huge thank you to the whole hard working team.
