Kasar Rainbow Yoga Retreat

Kasar has a magical charm to it and the Rainbow Retreat further complements that...What I loved about this place was it's minimalism, neatness, cleanliness, classiness at a good price & perfect location ...walking distance from Kasar Devi temple. Right opposite this place there is a beautiful place to sit and meditate amidst the sloping trees ..it's simply blissful. Sabu was great company & a really warm host . The cafe is also quite nice , the reading area etc too....it felt like a home away from home ...😊....if you really want to immerse in yoga, meditation, bird watching, writing or art and some good conversation ...this is the place for you !

I was very fortunate to find thr Rainbow yoga retreat. The views are outstanding. The owner Sabu is a perfect host. Visit Kasar Temple for sunset, it is located a short walk away. You will glad you did. Sabu knows interesting places to go. Highly recommended

Mr Sabu ji was the best host. We stayed here for 3 days and rooms were clean and the view was amazing. The food was so good that me and my wife use to fill our tummy. I would highly recommend this to any one.

We stayed for only 1 nights in this property in month of January 2023 with my family. The property has excellent views of the valley and mountain, very clean rooms, amazing restaurant, and a good collection of books for reading.... Me and son play chess as well at the restaurant. The food served is of top quality and the ingredients used are of better quality and healthier. The main attraction is how the owner pay his attention to details in designing the space, furniture and ensuring comfort to the guests is amazing. Main thing for me was the heartiest welcome by the owner Sabu Mehra. I feel really honored. The only issue I feel that the access to the property. On the cons side- it’s about 50 Mrs. walk down some stairs from the main road to the resort, so it is not suitable for people with joint pain or breathing difficulty, but young people would enjoy the climb, for instance my kids regularly tried to beat me in those stairs and it’s a fun! The rooms have no TV, I am not sure how people fell about it but I felt it as a good thing as I took the opportunity to keep away from every gadget like the phone, laptop and the TV and asked the kids to do the same and connect with the nature. I rather took the time to sit in the wide courtyard and enjoy a drink under the sky in the cool sun venting breeze with an amazing view of snow-clad mountain. You will also get a fantastic sun rise view from the room as well as the big courtyard. If you stay a Binsar you must stay in this property.

Stayed from 3rd-7th June/22, family holiday for 2 kids and two adults. Booked through their own website, talked to owner Sabu Mehra on phone, booked the family suite as suggested. Timing for visit ( summer) is not great as all of north india is now in the hills because of the sweltering heat in the plains and the school summer holidays, so it’s a busy time. Temp in the hills are at 30+ degrees during the day, drops to 24-25 in the evening. Locals are burning the pine needles at this time to clear the ground for grass to grow after the rain, so there is a little bit of haze in the air. The hotel is located in a fantastic place, on the top of a hill giving a terrific view of the valley and the mountains, and across the road is Kasar Devi temple which is in the middle of a pine forest and overlooks the Almora town. There is also a ridge across the road which gives exceptional sunset and sunrise views, good for insta with whatever pose you like. There are some excellent eateries nearby, the resort itself run a cafe about 500 mts away, which is quite good, and there are a few more. Mohan’s is also a good one, they also have a boutique store. A trail runs from the resort to the village below, so good for a walk for those who like. The rooms are well appointed, very clean and quite new with excellent flooring, and the open area in the first floor also gives good sunrise views and view of the valley. The dining area is also restfully designed and very clean. There is a terrace attached to the dining area, good to sit and have coffee while leisurely passing time looking at the pine trees and the valley below. There are some birds, including the pheasant, in the locality. The food is good, and the owner himself looks after the cuisine. The only thing that can improve is they can add a few cupboards in the rooms so that the average Indian tourist who travels with family can keep the bags and cloths in a organised way. I can’t complete this review without writing about the owner Sabu. A very extremely friendly person who takes personal care of the guests. Because of him it felt more like a visit to a friends place rather then staying in a resort. He even called to ask if I reached back home safely. I generally don’t write reviews, but this stay compelled me to write something!
