Hotel Quinta do Lago

The hotel opened in 1988 and we first visited in the early 90’s. Probably about our 25th visit last week with two friends. Everything continues to be well maintained, refurbished excellently, spotlessly clean and of a standard rarely found. Rooms are spacious and we have one overlooking the Ria Formosa estuary (a wildlife sanctuary) and the sea. A terrace gets sun most of the day. Breakfast buffet has ever and can be taken inside or out. The pools are immaculate with an all day attendant. Dinner has a full menu with flexibility to our age related requests! The bar is pleasant and very well run. A big wine list with some lovely offerings. Staff in all areas are friendly efficient and attentive as well as many knowing us over many years. Transfers are efficient and a car can be delivered to avoid airport hassle. So, overall, where else could we go? Just a pity Faro airport taking so long to be efficient and bring in electronic passport stations! Waiting in long queues in your 80’s is tedious!!

The staff make this hotel very memorable. I read reviews prior to going and everyone said how good the staff were, and it's true. Special mention to Barbra who is just so warm and friendly and super efficient. Clara at the omelette station too, she makes it look so easy! The location is fabulous. The rooms are very clean with quality bedding. The beach is quite the walk away and not as good as other beaches in the Algarve in my opinion. We spent most of the time around the pool, the beds are very comfortable and towels are provided. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Fabulous holiday. Thanks to all who made our stay so wonderful.

Wonderful hotel,is a great location. Have stayed at this hotel many times.great service,with friendly and helpful staff.The perfect place to stay,with great local golf courses and restaurants.

This is a top notch hotel. We stayed a week and wished it could have been a month. From start to finish the staff could not have been more helpful. With tasteful decor the rooms were spacious and clean, beds comfortable, food excellent in every way. Toiletries are provided but ask for tea and coffee facilities if you like your morning and afternoon cuppa. If you're fussy about your hair dryer take your own or speak to reception as the one in the bathroom doesn't have a nozzle. USB sockets are provided in the clock next to the bed. The nature reserve and private beach are within walking distance but there was always plenty of space around the pool. The salads at the pool bar were scrumptious - ideal for a light lunch. Faro airport is only a 20 minute drive away and although planes were visible from the hotel they didn't bother us. A shuttle bus from the hotel to the nearest shopping centre operates twice a day.

Wow! What a fabulous hotel. It has so much to offer and deserves every acclaim. Beautiful rooms, beautiful surroundings near the beach and the nature reserve. Lagoons and dunes and birds. Plenty of golf too but that isn't for us. Eating or relaxing, inside or out was a spacious sunshaded pleasure. The bar area was elegant with complimentary generous nibbles, and fabulous views. The staff were so helpful, efficient, thoughtful and personable, throughout the hotel. They spoiled us on our anniversary with champagne and a fruit buffet. The hotel taxi that took us to a pre wedding reception was complimentary The evening meal menus were outstanding and breakfast a delight with so much choice. It is rare to find a 5* hotel that takes children but these children all seemed to have a 'mute' button turned on. Lots of poolside areas to choose from with everything provided and done for you. Definitely one to return to, but not across a school holiday!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Quinta do Lago hotel. It really is a very special place but it’s the staff who really make it special. All the staff from reception, concierge, breakfast, spa, pool and restaurants were first class. Friendly, engaging and professional. I’ve rarely seen such a cohesive standard throughout an entire team before. It’s obvious that many of them have been there for a long time and have built relationships with returning guests. Our room was well equipped with a very comfortable bed and a lovely view. You do have to ask for a coffee machine rather than it being provided as standard. Breakfast has a whole array of options and it was lovely to sit out on the terrace in the morning. Barbara and the team provide a great start to the day. The hotel restaurant is excellent with some beautifully cooked food. We liked the flexibility where we had a lovely 3 course meal on arrival as we were hungry but on another night we just shared a starter and a main as we had been out for lunch and we felt just as welcome. We loved the swimming pool and the jacuzzi. The whole pool are was very quiet and there were also lots of loungers available. Its location is interesting as it’s on a golf estate and has a very different feel to nearby towns and villages. The hotel provides a free shuttle within the estate which includes the north and south golf courses but unfortunately not to the local restaurants. There are restaurants you can walk to, but not many, so most diners end up using taxis. We went for a walk one evening and got lost. Even though we could see the hotel the only way to access the hotel was to retrace our steps. Casa Velha and Bovino restaurants are only physically only 100 metres away but it takes 20 minutes to walk around. All the local restaurants are expensive, charging about double what you would expect to pay in Vilamoura. There’s a lovely board walk outside the hotel which goes to the beach and also east and west along the coast so is great for walking or cycling. It’s expensive to stay, eat and drink but it is a fabulous hotel and one i would very happily return to, as we realised many of our fellow guests have been doing for years.
