This was not quite the midpoint of our three plus weeks jaunt around the UK. We had never been in the lakes district, so this was a treat. The location was superb. Very remote but only a short walk to the bus stop for a ride into Keswick. When we arrived we were met by the owner who directed us to our room. Very comfortable bed and bathroom with amenities. Breakfast was excellent. In particular the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Dinner was a multi course epicurean delight. Drinks first in the sitting room and then escorted to our table for a leisurely meal. At our last place we in Pickering, we took a sour dough bread making class. We left with a loaf of our sour dough. We "donated" it to the manor house and they served it at dinner. We received many compliments from all who ate our bread. We were thrilled that the bread was put to good use. We really enjoyed our stay here. If we come back to the lakes district, this is definitely where we will stay.

The fact we were the only guests staying who were not on a return visit speaks volumes for this lovely 7 bedroom hotel. It's possible to park your car and forget it until it's time to leave, as there are many walks direct from the hotel plus easy access to buses to take you to Keswick and beyond. Breakfasts are plentiful, made to order, and provide the perfect start to your day. Dinnertime is a 'fine dining' experience not to be missed, with a wide selection of wines. We stayed in Castle Crag, a ground floor room with beautiful views and a fabulous walk-in shower. The owners, Gary & Donna have made this hotel a reason, if any is needed, to return to the Lakes again and again.

We have been coming to Hazelbank every year, sometimes twice, since 2014 and the standard of service is as high if not higher each year we visit. Our visit coincided with a cool and wet start to June but the hotel was as warm and comfortable as usual. The set menu inspires your taste sensations through each course. The room, Castle Crag, was warm, light and comfortable. The social atmosphere starts with canapés and continues with drinks in the lounge after dinner. It has been described as a Donna and Garys " friends and family dinner party". That is the best description of the Hazelbank experience.

HB never fails to deliver. Great people, great food, amazing location. After 10 years, we keep coming back & we’re never disappointed! The rooms, the food & a great wine list all add to the best experience you could want! Park up & walk from the door & then return for the reward! 🍷🍽️❤️

Big thank you to Gary x Donna and the Hazel Bank team for a fantastic family break . We had 4 wonderful nights , just an absolute pleasure to stay and dine each evening . We were very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed the gardens immensely . Our rooms were just beautiful , immaculately clean , beds very comfortable loved the pillows and luxurious bedding , look forward to returning soon .

Our first visit to Hazel Bank, but I'm sure it won't be our last. We stayed for 5 nights, and the team of Gary, Donna, Chris and Emma were very accommodating, ensuring food preferences were looked after. Food at dinner and breakfast were very good indeed. Bedroom and guest lounge were very welcoming. The grounds of the hotel are a delight in themselves, and serve as great start points for local walks. Castle Crag and Watendlath, we would particularly recommend.

We have just had a 3 night break at Hazelbank hotel and were thoroughly spoilt. From being welcomed by Mark and shown our beautiful room with a four poster bed, coffee/tea and biscuits, sparkling water, complimentary decanter of Sherry and enough toiletries in the spacious bathroom to last months. The views from our bedroom were breathtaking. We only ate one night in the restaurant as we were meeting up with relatives but the food was amazing. Four courses with tea/coffee in the lounge afterwards. The breakfasts were lovely also, setting you up for the day. A big thankyou to Mark and Donna, the owners and to the gentleman who also served us at breakfast. He was always very polite. A big thankyou also to the "cleaning fairy"who everyday on our return, the room was spotless as though we had only just arrived. Thanks to the other members of behind the scenes staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We would certainly stay again and will definitely recommend.

It was our first time at Hazel Bank and it won’t be our last! We left this beautiful hotel surrounded with stunning scenery with heavy hearts. The couple that run the hotel give a masterclass in hotel management and hosting. Our room had gorgeous views of the garden and the fells, it is super clean, quiet and comfortable. Top quality decor, towels, products and amenties, the attention to detail was very evident in our room and in the rest of the hotel. The hosts make your stay so relaxing. Be prepared to be treated to delicious meals, each meal was outstanding. The owners deserve every 5 star review and accolades that come their way. They plus their team do an amazing job. Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay, we cannot wait to return.

This was our second visit to Hazel Bank and as soon as we turned up realised what an absolute gem it is. Everything is immaculate from the striped lawns to the welcoming red carpet in the hallway. The room was extremely comfortable with a well appointed bathroom. Most of all the food is absolutely outstanding - worthy of three Michelin stars. We will undoubtedly be back and highly recommend.
