Allanton Inn

Highly recommended! Had a super dinner here, food delicious and service ace; well stocked bar and decent wine list too. Overnight stay very comfortable too and a great breakfast to finish off - smashing. Loved the commitment to using local producers where possible too

Arrived at The Allanton Inn for a 1 night stay and all I can say is book this place , room nice , comfy and spacious , food is excellent and staff are really nice and friendly they have a letter in room incase you like to take a walk around the local area with directions The breakfast is unreal too

A good sized, clean and comfortable bedroom which despite facing the road was actually very quiet. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of well cooked local produce. Proprietor and staff cheerful and friendly. I recommend this inn with rooms if you’re in the Scottish Borders area.

I enjoyed a wonderful weekend away in the Allanton Inn. Cosy, super clean and well decorated room with lovely view, great bar area with plenty of friendly local people (always a good sign), great food and last but not least, very personable and welcoming staff. Paxton House Estate on the river Tweed only a 20 min drive away for beautiful river walks. Just one request: please offer more vegetarian meals. There was one option on the menu which was extremely tasty, but after that my only option was to combine side dishes, which was less successful. That said, breakfast was great for vegetarians, the home-made granola is a must. Thanks for a great stay.

Room 4 was quite compact but very comfortable with a good shower and nice toiletries. Bar area is very good and cosy. Food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. I have stayed previously in summer and the beer garden is excellent to sit/eat in with very nice views over fields. The are also some covered tables with heaters.

I only happened on the Allanton Inn by chance, looking for accommodation in the hugely underrated Scottish Borders. What a find! Everything about the hotel is perfect, Katrina, William and Craig are the perfect hosts, ensuring that our stay was a memorable one. Our bedroom was of the highest standard and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant every night and, despite the fact that I’m not an epicure, I swear the Allanton deserves at least 1 Michelin star, every meal was sublime. The pub is popular with locals and visitors alike but there is no “them and us” vibe you might find in similar establishments, everyone is very friendly and we both felt very much at home. The Allanton Inn is very handy for exploring the beautiful Berwickshire coastline and there are beautiful walks right outside the pub. I can’t praise the Allanton Inn enough and we’re looking forward to our next visit.
