LE MAS D'ENTREMONT

Our experience at Le Mas D'Etremont was nothing short of a nightmare. Lured by the enticing reviews and photos of Le Mas promising a luxurious stay near Aix city center complete with a swimming pool, we decided to treat ourselves, despite the fact that Le Mas was twice the cost of our fantastic Avignon stay. Oh, how we regretted that decision! Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a receptionist whose mood was as dreary as the room she showed us to - a "Superior room in the Park" at the steep rate of €290 per night, excluding breakfast. This room resembled a dark, dismal cave, with a small and poorly maintained outdoor space. It was so dismal that we immediately requested another room, only to be informed that the hotel was allegedly fully booked, leaving us with the only option of upgrading to a Junior suite at an additional cost of €60 per night. The Junior suite, while marginally better, was still unimpressive and dull. But let's attempt to list the few positive aspects of our stay first: 1. The pool was the only redeeming feature. With virtually no other guests in sight, we had it entirely to ourselves. 2. Our room was at least quiet, providing some respite from the overall disappointment. Now, let's delve into the abyss of our experience with the bad points: 1. Despite this hotel presumably having at least forty rooms, we encountered a grand total of twelve other guests during our entire 48-hour stay. This left the hotel devoid of any atmosphere and gave the impression that it was closed for the season. 2. The grounds and hotel buildings were shockingly shabby, as if they hadn't seen an update in decades. It was as though time had forgotten this place. 3. The outside restaurant, although picturesque, appeared abandoned. Around forty tables were set for dining, complete with tablecloths, cutlery, and wine glasses. However, they were marred by leaf debris, no guests were dining, and the atmosphere was reminiscent of a forlorn film set. 4. We interacted with a mere three staff members during our stay - the sullen receptionist, a lone waiter at breakfast (where no other guests were present), and a gardener. It felt like a ghost town. 5. Speaking of guests, we only counted a grand total of twelve others during our stay. This raises suspicions that most of the hotel had been mothballed. 6. The pool area, while seemingly tranquil, was plagued by significant traffic noise, courtesy of the hotel's unfortunate location next to a busy main road, albeit concealed by trees. To be perfectly honest, we would have abandoned ship after the first night if not for the fact that we had provided our credit card details when booking. Our heartfelt advice: do not even consider booking this hotel; it's a travesty of hospitality.

We enjoyed our stay here very much with just a couple of hiccups. The entire resort is gorgeous and charming and provided a nice respite. I did not find the pool to be in need of repair as some others have suggested, so maybe work has been done. We ended all our days with a swim and were also grateful for the air conditioning in our room during a very hot spell. The staff were very gracious and helpful although we had a problem with the laundry service (took our entire stay to get it done) and had to leave without one item (but they are shipping it to us). We also found that not all the items in our room were replaced each day (coffee, creamer, etc.) One other thing to note is this is outside of Aix and a little challenging to get to. We had a car but on the last day we took Uber into Aix; I highly recommend it because driving and parking in Aix is not always easy. I am still glad we stayed there because it was like stepping into a beautiful oasis at the end of the day when we were tired and hot from sightseeing.

This is a quaint, independently run hotel just outside of Aix-en-Provence. The location serves as a good base to explore the surrounding town and there is plentiful car park. Staff are super helpful and you can feel their passion / dedication. Rooms are large, in individual single story blocks, and are generally clean and well kept (though slightly tired). Multiple steps may possibly pose an issue for those who are not so mobile. Would recommend otherwise.

We found this a delightful and accessible oasis. The swimming pool is lovely. The room was quiet, comfortable and well appointed. We were a bit disappointed that complimentary water was not provided daily in the rooms. You’d expect that as a matter of course. The staff were lovely and friendly but there was just a lack of attention to small details such as water and missing items in the breakfast buffet that would make all the difference. Would recommend though.

Mas d'Entremont is a beautiful oasis located outside of Aix. We thoroughly enjoyed every part of our stay - from the gorgeous premises and gardens to the comfortable beds to the delicious meals. We found the staff to be incredibly kind, especially Sofiane! Highly recommend.

Les points positifs : un très beau cadre, agréable, de la place dans les chambres, un bel environnement peu importe la localisation de la chambre, très belle salle de repas. Le cadre est intimiste et reposant ! Les points négatifs : la qualité des chambres pour le prix payé n'est absolument pas au rdv. Douche entartrée, pas de pression, toilettes sales en arrivant, prises à nue, plinthe décollée, chambre très vieille. C'est vraiment dommage mais pour nous, le rapport qualité/prix n'était pas satisfaisant.
