After reading the negative reviews I was a tad nervous. Three adults in a four bed room had plenty of space and two bathrooms with showers which was great. Room reminded me of a Travelodge and was perfectly adequate. One issue with a sticking toilet flush had a maintenance person there within the hour who was ever so friendly and everything resolved quickly and without fuss. We were polite with all the staff and had it returned tenfold so my family had no issues at all. Went half board this time to force us to eat out for lunch and not be lazy but we didn't bother every day as we weren't that hungry due to good breakfasts. Go early or last minute to get breakfast to avoid the lessons rush and if you still miss that they put snacks/juice and hot drinks outside the room for free up to 11am. Same with evening meal, we always went early and had no issues, enjoyed a carafe of free wine and one too many desserts. If you engage with the staff they will treat you well in common courtesy. If you are a picky eater there is still some staple meals to keep you going through the week but give everything a try at least once. No issue with cleanliness all around, it's an active facility and certainly not perfect but I'm quite fussy about that and the cutlery having watermarks was the "worst" thing we encountered and certainly not an issue. Ski room and shop were a blessing to have within hotel and likewise the service was really helpful, changed my ski size during the week and no trouble at all for them. Certainly more French family orientated but everyone spoke English and appreciated if you made an attempt at any basic French which you should of course try. Free buses into the village area everyday or 15 minute stroll which was god to stretch the legs. Evening entertainment in French was still worth going to and you don't have to do every night. The altitude will affect you as normal but it certainly doesn't stop you having a fun experience skiing for a few hours and then sunbathing at the outside bar area in the afternoon. Was glad to go home purely due to ski exhaustion but would certainly go back again. It's a hotel for families so appreciate that and you will enjoy.

If you are a French family this hotel is for you. However if you are English I would avoid. The cooked breakfast is ALWAYS cold! Rooms are small but clean. There are NO tea or coffee facilities in the room and shampoo and conditioner is missing from the bathroom. Dinner can vary from poor to good with ample free wine. Bar closes at 11pm prompt and bar service can be very slow. Entertainment is all French spoken and TV is all French. No Sky or BBC World news. MMV is remote from the town so unless you fancy a healthy walk you are stuck there. If you don't mind children running around while you try and converse then that's fine. Beer prices start from 7 euros for Tuborg Lager. Very family oriented, but not for me.

The location is great, ski-in ski out and a short walk down to the centre. However the hotel seems to have a bit of a temperature issue. Shower was warm enough but would not get hot. Bedroom radiator would work for about 5 minutes before cutting out, meaning ski gear would not dry. Food in the restaurant (especially cooked breakfast) was very cold. Heaters in the boot room did not work so ended up wearing wet boots all week. Restaurant food was nice enough, lots of variety on what to pick eg. Salads, pizza, pasta, fish but this was generally repeated every day so got a bit samey as the week went on. Free wine on tap was a definite plus. Vegetarian night was my favourite. Team were all lovely and helpful however could be a bit brusk with turning tables in the restaurant. One time we got up to get desserts and came back to find a new family sitting at our table. All our drinks had been cleared away. There’s not a huge amount of seating available if you don’t want to listen to the evening entertainment (as it is all in French) so you have to be quick with dinner to get a seat for the evening. Overall our holiday was great and I’d happily return to La Plagne but I would probably try a different hotel next time.

Pros: Ski in/out. Friendly staff. Cons: Cold, tiny rooms (smaller than they looked in the pictures) with just enough space to shuffle sideways around two single rock solid beds. Lack of storage space. Weak shower which couldn't keep a constant temperature. Most of the hot buffet food was cold (especially the cooked breakfast selection). Expensive soft drinks in the bar. Boot warmers in the ski room that didn't work. More like a 2* hotel than the 4* one that advertise it as.

This is the second year that we have visited MMV and we love it. The location is brilliant for us, 2 adults and two teenage boys. It is ski in and ski out, literally to the door, the lessons are just outside. We love the food, it’s one of the main reasons that we choose this hotel, we go half board, incredible choice for breakfast and evening meal, super quality, delicious, and plenty of it. Our teenage boys can eat as much as they want and keep going back up for more, and free wine with the meal. A brilliant gala dinner on Christmas Eve too. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. Yes, it is often busy at reception but they always go out of their way to help and in particular the reservations manager. Yes, it can be quite noisy in the evenings with families and young children but there is a quiet area or of course you can get the gondola down into other La Plagne villages. The rooms are not enormous, but for us they are more than adequate and as described on the website. There is plenty of storage and the bathrooms are plenty big enough and clean. We had an interconnecting room which was really helpful. Last year we also had a room next to the lift but actually it was fine, we were not woken up with noise or the lift. If I wanted to be critical, I would say don’t book the hotel for the spa, there is a sauna and steam room but no pool or Jacuzzi and you need to book a slot. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to other families.

We went as a group of 10 (8 adults 2 children) in the February half term, so probably the hotels busiest week. We did not have any queues before dinner, in fact you can simply ask reception to reserve you a table each night (there was a big table that sat 10 people so they reserved this for us every night with no problem) and they will hold it for you until 7:30pm. Food was always hot, varied and different special dish each night- yes there could have been more meat but there was enough options. On our first night they did beef, another night lamb, then chilli burritos and gnocchi which was all hot and tasty. Breakfast also very good and lots of options. Yes rooms are small but they are very transparent about this as the room size is written in the description of the rooms when you book- so really don’t know why people are so shocked! This is truly a ski in ski out and really handy having the shop in the boot room- FYI if you hire your skis directly with skiset online and not through Crystal you’ll save some money as they mark up. Same with lift passes - do it direct online with la plagne it’s cheaper and they post them to you. Staff were all friendly to us so we didn’t experience any issues with this. Check in- we arrived about 9pm so rooms were ready to check in immediately. They also had food ready for us in the restaurant so our check in experience was positive. You can also check in online a few days before to save time. The only negatives for us: - wait time for collecting skis on first morning was circa 45 mins HOWEVER it was half term week so was expected. Perhaps the hotel should strongly encourage those who arrive earlier on the day before they ski to collect equipment the day before to limit the queue in morning. - a couple of nights during dinner, the staff seemed to rile up the kids creating a lot of screaming and noise which was unpleasant during dinner time but as soon as we asked for the noise to be kept down it was. - unbelievably there are a large number of children running riot until 10:30/11pm, running up and down the stair wells, up and down corridors, which kept us awake however we were in the first room next to the stairs/lift, so if you want to get an early night then I would put in a preference for a room further down the corridor and you’ll probably be ok. - there aren’t huge numbers of quiet areas to sit in the evening to play cards etc, but we did manage to get a table every night in the closed off lounge area. There is very noisy kids events every evening around 8-9pm in the big theatre area but in the lounge part it wasn’t too loud. Overall this was a good experience good hotel, and I would recommend to anyone looking for a ski holiday in a brilliant ski in ski out location and a comfy bed to sleep in with lots of decent food!

One of the worst experience with the hotel. Staff try their best, however with extremely poor management, I do feel very sorry for them. We were in a large group and they clearly had no idea on how to deal with such large group. Many of the folks in our group had food poisoning. Room temperature are controlled by the manager over an App. I just wonder what else can he control in the room. We were on full board basis, however the management decided to serve one drink per person at the bar. This ment a huge rush at the bar, as everyone had to line up to get a drink and there were 2 or 3 poor waiters behind the bar, whilst the Manager is overlooking outside the bar and keeping an eye on the staff and customer. Hotel is so big, but clearly under staffed. Reception is only open for few hours a day and when you ring the hotel, the message says, "unfortunately due to very successful performance of their business, they can't manage to take any calls" or to that effect. I don't know who or which group owns this hotel, but I seriously suggest a change of management.

We went with Chrystal and they were absolutely brilliant particularly as we were caught up in the boulder incident and arrived 4 hrs late. Despite that though we still had to wait 90 minutes to check in as that is at 6pm which is ridiculous. Some reviews say they have no idea how this is a 4 star hotel well that's because it's not it's 3 star with 4 star review rating so you have to judge it on that. Same goes for the ****** that complain the rooms are small, look at the photos it's obvious they are small but another foot or 2 all round would have made a lot of difference. Beds were clean and comfy and got turned over 3 times I think in our week, shower was roomy and powerful. Our heating was fine but our bathroom rad was about 300 degrees so I think that warmed up the whole area, the radiator in the room never seemed to be on. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and the on site ski hire was handy and all our groups equipment was good. Boot room could be a little crowded at times and you might as well take your boots to your room as the heaters weren't on. Ski in/out is literally out the boot room door. There is a large terrace but bizarrely they don't allow boots in the bar next door so it's not great at lunch for a drink. Food was fine for a budget hotel brekky was the best much warmer than the evening meal and free wine which again was perfectly adequate for the price. It's very much a family orientated hotel though ideal for those with kids not that any of them bothered us. For a 3 star it was fine.

Location- fantastic location. Ski straight out the boot room. Can get a short ski lift and slope to the centre or get the gondola from the hotel above. Very easy to access. Ski facilities- great ski hire facilities with large boot room. Every room has a place for 2 pairs of boots, skis and poles. Occasionally the boot room heaters did not work but we coped fine with night as you hung them upside down anyway. Very busy at peak times but can easily avoid as this is expected with a hotel of this size. Rooms- nicely decorated with window, en-suite and a cupboard. Rooms are a little on the smaller size but it appears they have updated the photos to reflect this. Service- all staff were friendly and helpful. Food- food was great. In the evenings, there are always options of pizza, pasta, cheese, salad and bread and then they do different special dishes each night (e.g. steak, chips, veg, fish, chicken, stew, potatoes, etc). Pudding is downstairs with cheese and ice cream always available. You have different puddings each night, like tarts, tiramisu, crumble, etc. You also have access to juice, wine or water. Breakfast is pancakes, bread, sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, cereals, fruit and more. Overall, food is fantastic!!!!!!!!!! I am unsure why other guests have moaned about it! Overall experience- would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. We will definitely be returning!
