El Sombrero Apartments Los Gigantes

This is the 2nd time we stayed here 1st time 3 year ago, Location is excellent for walking to gigantes or up cardiac hill to Santiago also bus stop to go to different places is right the apartments and run frequently sea view was lovely and on a night it was quiet, Things have deteriorated a lot since our last time there. Apartments are dated no microwave, no hair dryer, shower curtain was brown bath had a rust spot in towels rough and thin one of the mirrored wardrobe door looked like glue all over it, table had paint peeling off it could do with being painted there was no pictures on the walls just hooks, television had 2 English channels that’s it, toilet cinsten kept making a noise like it was always filling up the flush button kept coming out, beds were very comfortable pillows lumpy, No pool bar now tiles in swimming pool kept falling off daily the concrete round the pool is cracked and Sharpe cushions on sun beds were very thin and got so hot thought they would melt, daytime reception staff were rude and very unhelpful just not interested if you had a problem nighttime reception man was lovely though he would help you, I wouldn’t recommend people with young children as there is nothing to do and the day time staff kept stopping the few kids that were there using there inflatables and didn’t like the kids having fun in the pool splashing and jumping in (which is what kids do) Overall we did have a lovely holiday you have to make the best of what you have and Gigantes is such a beautiful place

Have stayed at El Sombrero for the past few years, but think may try somewhere else next year. The apartments are basic, but good value and central to everything. We noticed this year that the maid service is not as often and had to pop to reception for clean towels a couple of times, which they were happy to do. We did cook in the apartment this year which we don't usually do and missed there being no microwave. WiFi is very poor (which you pay for). The main reason for trying somewhere different next year is how quiet the pool area is, the snack bar has never reopened and the pool is absolutely freezing. El Sombrero is a great budget holiday, clean and central to everywhere and the resident cat is a character 😀 hopefully will be back in a couple of years with the snack bar reopened and more atmosphere around the pool.

We loved our stay at El Sombrero 🥰. I agree with the last review…the rooms are spacious..we were in a studio with a sea view and it was perfect. The rooms were cleaned almost every day and the towels and bedding changed regularly. Also have to agree with other reviews that the rooms are a bit tired but it didn’t spoil our experience. We always managed to get a sun bed, you don’t have to reserve one. It was often quiet round the pool. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
