First and foremost, the staff at this hotel were excellent, polite, helpful and very cheerful. The food,in our opinion, was exceptional something different every night and four courses to boot. There is always a but in reviews and we have several. The room was adequate but did need a bit of refurbishment. Also, for a four star hotel I would’ve thought bath robes and slippers would have been provided particularly as there is a swimming pool but it is a walk away and a robe would’ve come in very handy. My main niggle with our room, was the bathroom. Less abled guests would find it more than a challenge and from what we could see the clientele was of a certain age. The bath was on a plinth which made it very difficult and very high to step into, the glass panel was almost ,at times, impossible to slide over. Perhaps a rethink and changing the bathrooms to walk-in showers would be the way to go. The bar definitely needs an update. The choice of wines was very limited perhaps a look at the excellent New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc would be a good idea. Also the wine cooler either needs replacing or adjusting to make the wine a lot colder. Just a suggestion, perhaps ‘cocktail hour’ would be a good idea have a proper cocktail waiter or a retrained member of staff, cocktails are very popular and do generate a good return. The last thing and the biggest ‘ but,’ is the signage on the front of the hotel it is very misleading. On booking it specifically says ‘beauty salon’ on trying to access this service we were told that it no longer exists. I was directed to a salon in the town. This was a big factor in my husband booking this hotel in the first place as he knows I do like and take advantage of this service. this was a big disappointment and needs to be sorted. Lovely scenery and beautiful location.
