Curious TravellerUnbeatable location with many rooms ( or all rooms) and public spaces facing Tsunoshima Bridge. Our room faced the ocean directly with no obstruction. The bath was also quite decent and the outdoor bath is next to the sea. You can enjoy the sound of the waves while bathing in the hot spa. It should be quite spectacular during sunset. The spa was probably renovated within the last 10 years as it was in good condition.
The room , however, felt old and the corridor was damp. The carpet in the room felt damp and the room felt stuffy. The AC worked well and we turned it on high. Our triple room as spacious but I felt itchy the whole night while sleeping- although the sheets looked clean ( I slept on the added bed). The other two beds looked slumped in the middle.
Bathroom also looked quite old( from the 70’s)?
My room was at the far end wing and there were lots of stairs to walk up and down from the front desk which was on the third floor. The staff will help to bring the luggages to your room ( also at check out - just call).
Hotel restaurant serves dinner buffet . If you are not interested, the hotel also has a list of restaurants nearby with 10-30 minutes drive. We drove out to have yakitori in a small down, which was very local, but with friendly owner, good food- and super cheap price ( each yakitori was about ¥120-150 yen.
Breakfast buffet has both Japanese and western offers, taste was average. Overall service was very good.

Hagi No Yado Tomoe is an amazing Ryokan. The exterior is nice and clean and once you head on inside, you enter a rare and elegant world.
The facilities are wonderful and everything is created with exceptional precision. The staff are always patient, polite, extremely kind and respectful. They were also very accomodating towards our child.
The room we had was amazing and both the dinner and breakfast were delicious and beautifully presented. The onsen was also clean and relaxing.
Highly recommended for your next stay if you visit Hagi.

SuraneeMy flight arrival on the early morning, and reached the hotel around 13.45-14.00. And I wanna leave luggages at the room and hope to hurry to visit another sightseeing on afternoon. But actually the hotel ignore early check-in, so I must paid 1000 yen for nothing to do at the room. I think the hotel don’t get any good mindset to traveler and don’t have any flexible about the rule of conditions. Traveling at japan disappoints and more getting tired to understand their service mind.

It's a hotel with great design. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. A must try is the hotel's Italian restaurant. Just a thought - it would be wonderful if the dry sauna on the top floor could be converted to a public bath. The hot spring next door is not the best. It is too small, with very limited facilities, and the water is not hot at all. The property should consider associating itself with another onsen in the area.

Eve ZSaw a few bad reviews online and was a bit worried. Our experience wasn’t so bad in general. There were towels and shower gel etc in the room. Bathroom is a bit small but manageable. We had to go to reception to buy washing powder for laundry though, then had to go again to change coins, which was quite inconvenient.

Location is excellent for the area, with splendid views of the bay from both the room and outdoor Onsens. I miss waking up to the sound of the quacking ducks, swimming in the sea, in the morning already! But I wonder how one would visit this hotel without driving own car. Service was welcoming and the food served was great. Would love to visit if I’m in the area again. Should renovate and upkeep the onsen areas!

Usuario invitadoA good hotel with hot baths and a gorgeous view of the Iwakuni Bridge. Very tasty breakfasts, dinners. The hotel has its own sakura, you can taste sake from fugu and buy local delicacies. The rooms are large in Japanese style. All attractions are within walking distance. I recommend it to those who want to enjoy the historical part of Iwakuni.
