The hotel is nicely decorated. Checking in and out was a swift.
There is a terrace to chill out on the 6th floor. A doable fitness gym and spa is available on the 7th floor. Lift is accessible from 1st to 6th floor.
Room is nice with fridge. Iron and ironing board can be requested.
Simple breakfast. It could be better tasting with different variety everyday.
Extra water is chargeable at 50 rupees per bottle.
We stayed on the 2nd floor and cockroach was found on the 2nd day the the toilet. Thankfully we managed to catch it.
We really enjoyed our few days at this hotel. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, cosy, quiet and airconditioned. The food is diverse and nice. Breakfast selection is small, but good.
It is located in one of the best locations in town, centrally located between main sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, and the airport. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the latter.
The hotel’s pool, spa and gym are also recommended.

All the hotel staffs here are very nice and careful everyday!
They gave me a chance to have Nepalese traditional liquor and served packed breakfast even my departure time is just before the time to start breakfast hour.
Thank you for everything to support my stay.
The staff allowed us to check in early after a long overnight train. Thank you. The hotel is comfortable and perfectly located. We could walk to the Potala and Jokhang Temple. Dozens of restaurants and cafes were also within walking distance. There was oxygen in the rooms and
breakfast staff were very welcoming. Would stay there again.

After several trips to Nepal, I finally decided to treat myself with a stay at the famous Kathmandu Guest House. So glad I did. So much peace, grace, charm and beauty .. and of course, the history!
Este es el último hotel en el que me alojé durante mi primer viaje de negocios a Nepal. Estaba limpio y el servicio fue excelente. La habitación estaba impecable y las toallas, el baño y las sábanas eran de una limpieza impecable. Me sentí cómodo y a gusto. ¡Buen trabajo!
Great hotel but the roads are bad. If you dont mind the journey, then it is worth to stay. Spa is nothing exceeding expectation. Basic services. Other than that, great services and room. A bit old air conditioner. Kindly consider upgrading the appliances.
Good Location, Some Service Issues
The hotel has a great location, only a short walk from the Thamel area, so we didn’t need to take a taxi to explore the surroundings.
However, our room was very cold during our stay because the heating system was under maintenance. We called reception, and they kindly provided extra blankets, but it was still inconvenient. Temperatures at night and early morning were around 4–12°C, so we felt cold throughout our stay.
We also experienced issues with the laundry service. The first laundry was fine, although we needed to call twice to have it delivered to our room. The second laundry was problematic. We were told it was completed and would be delivered soon, but even 20 minutes before checkout, it hadn’t arrived. When we asked again at reception, they informed us the laundry actually hadn’t been done due to a mistake. In the end, they offered to finish it and deliver it to our next hotel and waived all laundry charges, which we appreciated.
On a positive note, breakfast was nice, and they had a good rotation of menu options each day.
Overall, the location and breakfast were great, but the heating issue and laundry miscommunication affected our experience.
Stayed for a few days, looks like this hotel just had a renovation ( everything) is new and clean
The staff was very help full and friendly
The room which i stayed in was perfectly clean and new bedsheets and towels were provided it also had a balcony;)
City centre is like 35 min walking and by car/bike 10min.
Will definitely book this hotel again when i visit Kathmandu.

UUsuario invitadoI spent 5 nights at the Fairfield by Marriott, about 2 weeks after a change of government through political protests. The room on level 7, had amazing views of the city and the mountains, with the desk perfectly positioned to reflect & admire this view. The marble bathroom and shower were awesome, with instant & reliable hot water. The tariff included a great breakfast, including hot and cold dishes. The staff serving the breakfast were amazing and would attend all requests in very efficient manner. The hotel is about a 10 minutes walk to clubs and bars. While the hotel street is relevantly quiet, I have felt very safe around this area day and night. There is an international convenience store in the same street of the hotel (4 min walk from hotel). Its is a little expensive, but they do accept credit cards The hotel does not have pool. During my visit in late September and early October, the temperate was a little hot for the first 2 days, and then a lot milder and slightly cool on the final day. I would definitely recommend this hotel based on room amenity, great service and very favourable rates.

EExpatWas able to make a video. Cannot post that one on Trip app.
For this trip to Nepal, I had a driver scheduled ahead of time to make the drive up there in the dark easier. Pay extra if they stay or go down. No need to leave the property, but lovely locals in both road directions. It seems lots of people take their motorbikes up. There’s even college students and bus groups. Some vacant and less expensive hostels, but this location has everything needed. I think it’s a good night or two to stay. I arrived dinner and stayed two nights. All employees wonderful. Binod said Hotel can help arrange driver, but the bus also comes up. Sunrise depends on fog. Good either way.
JJohn Vincent (JV)Nice Old Hotel, Great Staff with few needs to improve.
Swimming pool is totally disappointment. Better to shut down, than keep running and not swimmable, waist of energy. The water is dirty, no star at all.
The lobby, the room and Ghurka bar are still great.
2 power shutdowns in 1 day, I believe they are struggling with power shortages due to dark lounges.
Breakfast was so so, coffee or tea should be not a challenge to serve first, sometimes took half of meal before they come. Many Tables are not stable and aligned, egg can easily roll over to other side. Atleast 3 tables on my experience.
Room is comfortable, nice bed and always fresh linen. Only noisy from AC , maintenance team came twice on my room to fix, though transfer was offered on my last 2 days.
Managers should not standing in buffet line, either they should help the line staffs or directing the team, talking business in public is not of our guests concern.
Front desk Trainee, has good presence, I thought first he is manager.
A lot can be improved and polished, the hotel has a great potential, nice design, great facilities and great staffs. I wish that management should look all themselves and review those small details.

DDan W 1023The mattress and pillows had very bad smell like they had not been replaced for a couple of years. The food in Zing cafe at the lobby was just so so. The plastic table covers generally full of food debris without frequent changing. During the 7-day stay, the service at front desk, restaurant and for our room however was overall up to the standard of a 5-star hotel.
