While many seem to like this hotel, we can't say the experience was that enjoyable. The building feels tired, with an interior renovation done in an 80's style appearing dated. We followed the directions to the underground carpark (thankfully provided by the hotel), and discovered steps up and down to get to the hotel, and then up again to get from reception to the elevator. Hardly a deal-killer, but annoying nonetheless to schlep the luggage after a long day. Interior decor was surprising - it was neither ”classic old” nor ”modern chic”. Instead the reception area felt like something you might see at the counter of a Jamba Juice in a nondescript American mall. It was probably refreshing when first built, but style, particularly Italian style, has moved on significantly. Out of the elevator we found more stairs to get to our room. It was certainly spacious, but the style again felt dated. The bed was in a loft, up a set of noisily-creaking stairs, with a sloping roof skylight. Window coverings were good, blacking out the light of a very early sunrise, but we couldn't get the air conditioner to get the room below 22 or so (roughly 71), downstairs, and it was warmer still upstairs - all making for an uncomfortable night. The location was good for wandering around the old part of the City, but we have to believe that there are other centrally-located hotels offering a better experience. On any future trip we would likely opt for a stay in the beautiful surrounding area, visiting the old town (which the City seems to be intent on further improving) on a day trip.

El hotel es uno de los mejores hoteles de vacaciones locales, muy cerca de la estación de tren, la habitación es diferente, una habitación individual puede reservarse a la mitad del precio al principio. Con desayuno, la comida también es rica y el turismo de ocio es necesario.

Situado a las afueras de la ciudad, en un polígono industrial, ofrece una habitación muy cómoda, moderna y de perfecta insonorización y confort. Hay aparcamiento gratuito frente al hotel y el desayuno es correcto. La distancia al centro es grande, por lo que es necesario un vehículo, pero es una gran opción para hacer escala durante una noche, como fue mi caso.

La habitación es limpia y cómoda. El check-in y el check-out son muy convenientes y rápidos. Puede registrarse usted mismo si el personal no está disponible. La recepción cierra después de las 23:00 horas. Si tienes hambre, sólo puedes comprar comida en la máquina expendedora. No está en el mismo centro de Bolzano, pero está a poco más de un kilómetro de la estación de tren, se puede llegar andando en poco más de diez minutos, hasta Bolzano Bolzano hay una parada en tren, lo cual es muy rápido, por lo que en general es muy conveniente ir al Lago di Braies o suceder.

LOCATION: 8 su 10 Marilleva 1400 è una località pensata per le vacanze in montagna ben servita e con la possibilità di fare attività anche se non si è degli sciatori. STRUTTURA: 7 su 10 La struttura è stata rinnovata negli interni ma non esternamente, si nota però che c'è l'intenzione nel continuare l'opera di ammodernamento della struttura. PULIZIA: 7 su 10 Le stanze e la struttura nel suo complesso sono molto pulite anche se si potrebbe migliorare, capisco però che in una struttura che ospita ogni settimana circa 800 persone il compito non è semplice. Devo però fare i complimenti per l'attenzione costante data alla pulizia delle parti comuni, in particolare i bagni che ho trovato sempre puliti e profumati anche negli orari di maggiore affluenza degli ospiti (pranzo - cena). CIBO: 7 su 10 Nel complesso il cibo è di buona qualità anche se di grande distribuzione ma non si può pretendere una cucina tristellata in una struttura così capiente, anzi nonostante ciò al buffet sia a pranzo che a cena si trovano sempre almeno due primi espressi e due secondi con contorno espressi e ogni giorno differenti, e lo stesso principio di varietà è applicato anche nella parte del buffet self-service. Per quanto riguarda la colazione apprezzabile il fatto delle stazioni con barista per il caffè o il cappuccino, unico neo è la pancetta per la colazione salata, alle volte risulta un po' lessa invece di essere ”crispy”. PERSONALE: 8 su 10 Il personale estremamente cortese ed attento alle esigenze del cliente e, cosa non scontata, volenteroso, dai cuochi al personale di servizio fino ad arrivare al personale atto all'accoglienza e alla manutenzione delle camere (appena ricevuta la camera ho riscontrato dei problemi che entro un'ora mi sono stati risolti). Una particolare menzione per i ragazzi del bar che nonostante il numero degli ospiti negli orari di maggiore affluenza non ti facevano superare mai i 5 minuti di attesa prima di prendere la tua ordinazione. ANIMAZIONE 9 su 10 L'animazione è la vera carta vincente di questa struttura e in generale di TH. Dal TH land, dove, con estrema pazienza e attenzione, hanno avuto cura dei nostri figli dalla mattina alla sera organizzando anche la scuola sci per loro ed altre attività in modo da non farli mai annoiare, all'animazione per gli adulti sia sciatori e soprattutto, come me, non sciatori, organizzando escursioni e visite guidate in strutture della Val di Sole che altrimenti non avrei mai saputo che esistessero. Tutto ciò condito da un intrattenimento costante anche per noi adulti che iniziava dalla chitarrata post pranzo e terminava dopo cena in teatro con uno spettacolo diverso ogni sera. In particolare bisogna citare la figura di Juri Di Stasio, vero e proprio mattatore delle serate dedicate al Cabaret.

Incredible room, the property is a one-all with the environment and the room materials and layout are coherent woth the landscape. People are friendly. Food is terrific. The spa is out of this world, possibly one of the best in any 5 star hotel. Sadly the room wasn’t the cleanest but we were happy to have our early check in accommodated. The staff quickly resolved it and apologised.

For some reason we were not expecting great things from this hotel, it was one of the bigger resorts we had booked for 2 nights on a 5 weeks touring holiday, most of the other places were family run, smaller hotels so we expected this hotel not to be as good. We were so pleasantly surprised. I think we went for a basic room but it was quite modern and spacious with light switches you tapped for privacy etc. The bed was very comfortable, we asked for extra pillows which were promptly delivered. Lovely bathroom with great shower. The only thing which was not good was the air conditioning, being a lady of a certain age I needed the room to be a lot cooler than it was and the reception only seemed to be able to get it down to 22 which on a hot couple of nights in June was really not cool enough, ended up sleeping with the windows open which was a little noisy come early morning. The parking is pretty good and it is worth leaving your car in the garage and taking public transport to the various places, traffic is quite heavy on the roads and parking is, well, typical Italian and not very much of it to be had. The buses seemed to be perfectly timed which was not what I expected for Italy. The bus stop to Bolzano is literally outside the hotel and takes about 40 minutes,(there is a bus 120 which runs on the hour which is quicker by about 10-15 minutes if you can get that, reception do not seam to be aware of this but on a hot day it is so much better). The spa area is very good and the swimming pool on the roof top has some amazing views with lots of sun beds. The restaurant is inside, quite large and quite brightly lit with no windows, which felt a bit like eating on a cruise ship. We went for half board which included a buffet starter including a soup or a slice of pizza, choice of pasta, choice of meat course or a full pizza if preferred, and either a dessert off the buffet or ordered from the menu. The food wast all very tasty and well presented. Would highly recommend one of the local wines, a red Lagrain which was about €28 a bottle, decent price and a nice medium body wine, recommended by our waiter. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is mainly full of German tourists and the staff tend to cater more for them however we had no problem with communication and the staff went out of their way to find someone who could speak better English to help out in any way they could. Would definitely recommend this hotel if passing and certainly lots to do in the area for at least 2-4 nights, aided by the free Bolzano card which gave free travel on buses, trains and cable cars egging you to some lovely walking areas and virtually all the museums, castles etc in the surrounding area.

With Bolzano picked simply as a midway stop for our drive from Germany to Tuscany, we weren't expecting too much of the town but this hotel looked promising. We were pleased that BOTH exceeded our expectations. The city is vibrant and picturesque to where we wish we had stayed a few days instead of just a day and a half. As for Hotel Hortenberg, it was delightful and had an impressive feel. Our room (101) was clean, spacious, quiet, tastefully decorated, and with a generously sized bathroom. We found the staff to be welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. The breakfast bar had something for everyone, with all selections fresh and well supplied. The garden and pool area were a pleasant oasis where barely a noise was to be heard from outside the property walls. The view up the mountain towering over the hotel and neighborhood was impressive. We hope to return to this area one day and to choose this hotel again.
