A lovely traditional country house hotel. The public rooms were just what you expected, old world charm, the food excellent but the best asset was the friendly and helpful staff. Unable to comment on bedrooms as we were in an accessible room which wasn’t great, good parking though. Needs attention to basic customer requirements, overall a great few days

Amazing hotel, perfect location for shopping at the Metro Centre. Fantastic breakfast with good quality ingredients. Also a steam room and swimming pool. The price was really cheap, considering everything on offer. Highly recommended for a short stay.

El hotel está situado al final de Chester le Street, aproximadamente a medio camino entre Durham y Newcastle. El hotel es un pequeño castillo construido hace más de 600 años con fantásticos salones para eventos que te transportan a ser un príncipe o una princesa.
Hay mucho verde alrededor del castillo y el campo de golf Chester le Street está a la vuelta de la esquina.
Las habitaciones en el castillo son muy bonitas, pero también hay habitaciones fuera del castillo que pueden ser preferibles para personas mayores. El restaurante sirve una comida estupenda y tienen una extensa carta de vinos.

El hotel era muy limpio , elegante y así fue el restaurante y el bar , absolutamente no hay quejas camas son tan cómodas y definitivamente estaré de vuelta 😊

Room old and outdated - hotel needs refurbished in older areas - new spirts bar disappointing expensive and not that clean - nenus dirty with fingerprints and sticky - considering brand new they beed higher standards tho mains in Fusion were good but prawn crackers at £5.95 were awful

Came to Darlington to visit.friends. The staff we're fantastic upon arrival and during the stay. The room had a few issues which were reported to the staff and the hotel itself could do with a face-lift as a bannatyne hotel.
Again I will stress the staff we're amazing.

We enjoyed our stay, the location of our room was good.
The only few ******* that we had, was that although the room was clean, it smelt a little bit smokey, it was too hot, we tried turning the radiator down a little but it wouldn't stay down, we did open the window, and the pillows were too hard for me.
But for the 1 night we stayed it was ok.

HHaoyun WangThe size of the room is specious with sufficient space for storing luggage, and the floor is very clean and comfortable to walk on with bare feet, so feel free to leave your shoe by the door. As for the bed, it is very large and comfortable, providing you the high quality of sleeping without any problems. In the bathroom, it is not only very elegant and clean, but also provides unlimited hot water with satisfying water pressure from two types of shower heads. Moreover, there is a mini fridge placed in the lower closet near the wardrobe, feel free to drink the two bottles of spring water prepared by the host or store your own drinks or unfinished meals. In addition, there is a small safe above the fridge for depositing your valuables.
In terms of the amenities on the ground floor, there is a high-end restaurant serving traditional English breakfast (e.g. egg benedict) in the morning, and the taste is fine. However, I am not a big fan of their lunch or dinner when you can have better options in nearby restaurants. Furthermore, there is a small bar just outside the restaurant. The Gym, coffee room and reception are at the LG level, and you will receive a 10% discount in the coffee room after check-in.
The location is very close to the city center, train station and several main attractions such as the cathedral and castle.
Overall, I enjoy my two-day stay very much, the price of the hotel is very cost-effective in terms of the four-star standards, providing an unforgettable experience for both tourists and business travelers.

UUsuario invitadoAbsolutely wonderful. Id stayed at Durham Royal County before with my girlfriend. However she didn't come with ne this time due to reasons that she had. The staff at the hotel were lovely about it and made me feel better about tge situation and a lovely note and complementary drinks for me to come back to in my room.
All I can say is thankyou and I'll look forward to staying with you again soon.

UUsuario invitadoWe really enjoyed our stay, the location is ideal and the grounds were beautiful and quiet! The staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional!
The only downside was that our room had only one plug socket that we could use.....just not enough these days, even just for basic needs..... very poor unfortuneatly. Air conditioning would have been welcomed, we would therefore definitely avoid this Hotel in summer months for this reason alone. One other small irritant, our bathroom had a glass shelf above the sink which tilited heavily towards the sink, so we had to be very careful to ensure things didn't keep falling over.
Our breakfasts were excellent (apart from the Omelettes), and the service staff were very welcoming....a great start to any day!

KKishvJust your average hotel, decor seemed outdated. The bathrooms were clean and looked new however they really needed a new door which was battered and the door handle and towel hook were falling apart. Luckily only there for one night so didn't bother complaining. Also on arrival the parking at the hotel was completely taken.
