There is not a lot of choice when looking for a place to stay in Devonport - so our key criteria was being within walking distance of the town centre and having free on-site car parking. First impressions of the hotel when we walked in was that it was very dated and in need of a major renovation - there were obviously some areas which had been refurbished such as the front reception but most of the areas need a significant overhaul. Our room was downstairs on the ground floor and walking down the stairs it felt like we were going down to the basement - the carpets needed replacement and the walls repainting. The room itself, a family room was very spacious for just two people - had plenty of storage space, decent work desk, large key sized bed, decent working a/c, though the Wi-Fi was slow with limited bandwidth. Even though the decor in the room was tired and worn, the bathroom had been refurbished the bed was relatively new (nice plush mattress and clean bed linen). The room overlooked the rear car parking area, which meant I could keep a check on the car, not that I was expecting a view given the relatively cheap room rate ($110/night as opposed to $176/night). The room however was relatively dark, with only a single window. We took advantage of the QR code room service for our breakfast option, due to its connivence - the food was alright (not amazing) and on occasions was cold/warm rather than hot. The timing of housekeeping was a bit erratic, as sometimes when we arrived back after lunch it still hadn't been done and other times it was done as soon as we left in the morning. Resupplies to the room by housekeeping was also inconsistent, sometimes we had hand towels and bathmats replaced other times we were left without. Same with tissues and water bottles. The rear car parking area had CCTV cameras, so I was comfortable with the surveillance/security however if you got back later in the evening there wasn't a lot of vacant bays, and we were there when the hotel was relatively quiet - I could imagine parking would be at a premium when it is busy. You do get a fair bit of noise in the morning from the trucks offloading liquor to the bottle shop (reversing beepers/crashing of bottles etc) The laundry and the gym area were really hammered and had obviously see better days - though the gym did have clean towels and fresh water bottles, when I could access it. There is only one washing machine and one clothes dryer - so you need to closely watch when other people's loads finish as otherwise you could be up half the night doing your laundry. In summary don't hold any high expectations about the Gateway Hotel, it is what it describes itself as - a centrally located 3 star hotel.

Best Western Launceston is a basic, but clean, safe, comfortable well-priced hotel in the centre of Launceston. It's well positioned for the Botanic Gardens and monkey enclosure, right in the centre of the city, and not too far from the river. The room had everything you'd need, or expect, for this price. But what raised the place for me was the service. On a badly delayed flight I didn't arrive until after midnight, but the night manger appeared swiftly, helped me check in, and never once complained about being dragged to the front desk in the middle of the night.

As one would expect, great staff and service, easy access - and laid back and an inviting/friendly atmosphere compared to a few others I have visited. Been twice now after getting a great room rate and well worth the stay with some great views (room location dependant). Great choice of both casual inexpensive meals at the Boardwalk Bistro and the more upper class eateries. Great amenities in one location. Our family recently had the pleasure of staying in the Tower Bay View Suite at Wrest Point Tower Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost care and attention by the hotel staff. They were not only professional but also incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The suite itself was immaculate, with every detail thoughtfully considered. The cleanliness was top-notch, which is always a significant factor when traveling with kids. However, the highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the unrestricted bay view from our suite. It was absolutely breathtaking and provided a serene backdrop to our stay. The kids were enthralled by the view, and it added an extra layer of magic to our vacation. In conclusion, our stay at Wrest Point Tower Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of the stunning view, immaculate suite, and exceptional staff made our stay truly memorable. We can't wait to return and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering a stay in the area.

The hotel is clean, well equipped & comfortable. As a ”boutique” hotel, we loved the warm fireplace int eh lobby and the small restaurant and bar area. Only a few items let them down a little; on the public holiday the kitchen was closed in the evening. In addition we ordered some mineral water to go to the room, but had to follow that up. Whilst it was supplied free of charge to make up for the delay, it would be preferred that it was simply sent as requested. Overall we loved the hotel, its location, the view, the room and the overall ”Vibe”.

Beautiful comfortable suite of rooms perfect for a few days away. Love that the room has a sitting area with couch, table and chairs. Plenty of room for luggage. plenty of off street parking. Has the most amazing water pressure in shower, shower is a little small. but the water pressure makes up for it. Cant find any real faults. Perfect spot for a business trip.

Good location. Close to both CBD and Sandy Bay. The kitchenette is very convenient. There was an electric stove, microwave, refrigerator, pots and pans and knives and forks, but no chopsticks. Free internet. Front desk closes at 9 pm, but you can enter and exit multiple doors at anytime with your room card. Free parking space. Luggage storage is available. Let us check in at 12 noon. For sleeping, there is a powerful air conditioner, but only two thin blankets and the mattress is too soft. A$6 for continental breakfast, but you have to fill out a form to order. A$6 for both washing machine or dryer. Free laundry powder or liquid. Wellington Mountain and a corner view of the ocean from your room!

Mi esposa y yo hemos estado 7 noches desde el 22 de julio en la habitación 3306, las primeras impresiones cuando llegamos fueron muy buenas, el interior de los hoteles se hace increíblemente con los antiguos encuentros nuevos. Su hotel es probablemente el mejor que hemos estado en Australia, creo que es la atmósfera que crean los antiguos edificios de cerveza. El desayuno era muy bueno y me gustaría hacer una mención especial al servicio y la cortesía de Frances y Elizabeth, y lamentar a un joven con un barba nunca tuvo su nombre, todos eran muy útiles y amables, Gracias. Very minimal, shabby rooms of doubtful cleanliness, at maximal expense. Explicitly states that no service is offered, so to that extent at least the management is honest! But if you are staying two nights or more, you only get one night's worth of tea/coffee/milk/towels etc, even though you are paying for these items in the room charge. We had booked and paid for two rooms, but when I arrived the receptionist rudely said I could not check in 'because I did not have the same name as the person who booked', and I would jolly well have to wait until the person who booked arrived. (Actually, the person who booked was my daughter-in-law.) This is an extremely rude, discriminatory, and just plain stupid thing to say. For example, a husband and wife could have different names, and arrive separately. Also, I arrived at 3 pm, but what if my daughter-in-law arrived at 10 pm? The polite thing to do would be for the receptionist simply to ask if she could have a word with my daughter-in-law on the phone, or see a text message. Another point: the rudest, most aggressive utterance in the 'hospitality' industry is 'Can I help you?' spoken loudly through gritted teeth and rictus smile. The receptionist really ought to book a course at charm school. If - despite all - you are thinking of staying here, keep in mind that it is a very steep, long walk down to the city centre - and back up. The Coach House is not suitable for children, as the upper storey concrete walkways and steps are extremely dangerous for toddlers.

Las habitaciones están con fecha, pero muy limpias y la cama estaba cómoda. Se sirven villas, que fue una agradable sorpresa! Las instalaciones de la leche y del baño se han superado sin preguntar. El personal era amable y mis 2 y 3 años de edad adoraban las ”pony” rides. Nota para los futuros huéspedes, son caballos no pequeños pony haha.

Pero la habitación era pequeña, el acceso implicaba paseos y muchas escaleras. No es bueno para nadie que no pueda subir o llevar bolsas a unas escaleras. No hay servicio de habitaciones, no hay restaurante, no hay desayuno disponible. La recepción está compartida con un hotel adyacente. Parking limitado fuera de la puerta del hotel, pero otros parkings disponibles más abajo de la carretera y bajo el hotel. No ideal en términos de comodidad y acceso. ¿Me quedaría aquí otra vez? No.

Hotel has a good scenery located at the country side. Recommend to have a morning walk at hotel with the twilight can refresh your mind. I saw chicken and possum during the morning walk. The buffet breakfast was highly recommended. They also have a casino at hotel where you could stay the whole night with your luck !

A fabulous place to stay - with personality and style. The magnificent old building has been sympathetically restored and stocked with antiques in every nook and cranny. The hosts are cheerful and clearly care about what they do. We had the Grand Queen Suite which had a seperate sitting / tv area that was appreciated. If you’re not good with stairs check with the boys which rooms are upstairs and which are downstairs. Breakfast was cooked to order and was exceptional. I think we’ll be skipping lunch. In the sitting room they offer a glass of port or a Pedro Ximenez sherry. That was a lovely touch tonight and in winter it would be bliss. There is parking onsite right next to reception. Wifi worked well. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Bathroom was well stocked. It’s about a two block walk into the centre of Devonport where you will find stores and a handful of restaurants. Yet the hotel is so quiet we slept incredibly well.

Un 5 minutos a pie de restaurantes, cafés y supermercados. Fantástica comunicación de los propietarios y muy fácil acceso a los apartamentos, han pensado en todo. Probablemente el mejor alojamiento de apartamentos que he estado en. ❤️

We had the pleasure of staying at Glencoe for three nights and we had a wonderful time. We had the blue room and the bed was super comfy and the room was overall very quiet. Even with other guests staying we didn't hear a thing. The room is well appointed with a fridge, tea and coffee maker and a bluetooth speaker as well as all the other expected amenities. The bathroom is a little on the small side but the room is otherwise very spacious and comfortable. Irene and Russ are the most gracious hosts. It was a pleasure to meet them and hear about life on the working farm. Russ was even gracious enough to give us tips of places to eat and the best routes to take as we explored the area which we really appreciated. It's always nice to meet a fellow foodie and we had one of our best days in the area due to his advice. Irene is a genuinely kind soul and we loved how much she loves her animals. Breakfast each morning was genuinely brilliant. We don't usually get breakfast where we're staying as we like to explore local restaurants but we had breakfast each morning at Glencoe because it was so good. Freshly baked croissants, the most delicious mushrooms I've ever had and barista coffee. Add to that the pleasure of seeing chickens running around in the gardens it all just made for a lovely stay. If you are thinking about staying here I would encourage you to do so. It's a real gem!

I love staying here – it really is a home away from home. Bev and Martin are wonderful hosts, the breakfasts are divine, and the a**osphere is charming and comfortable, with lovely complimentary extras like home-baked cookies and port in the evenings. We loved heading off on the walking paths to see the beautiful Hawley and Shearwater beaches, and the wooden fishing boats at Port Sorell – for keen photographers, there are photo opportunities everywhere!
