It was clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even showed us how to use the electric stove. The bathroom and kitchen were both spotless.

For where you are (Oamaru is a small historical town) and depending on what you plan to do the clue is very much in the name. Parking was easy, decor quirky and very well designed. Cold buffet breakfast included named local cheeses, beautiful fruit and bread section with sociable table seating - gorgeous. We did a visit night at Oamaru Penguins, which for nature lovers is unbeatable (with dinner at Del Mare next door to the centre which was great ) it was absolutely perfect for our visit.

The hotel was great however for the size and experience they are aiming for and the reputation of being operated by the Hilton, the internet speed is subpar and was below my expectations. A speed test returned speeds of 0.03mbps which is not enough for web browsing. I would have hoped for better internet connection given the price and premium segment this hotel competes in.

La ubicación es excelente, muy cerca de las principales atracciones, a 10 minutos a pie. Se puede aparcar gratis en la calle de 18:00 a 09:00. Fuera de ese horario, cuesta 3,5 dólares la hora por un máximo de 2 horas, lo que es mucho más barato que aparcar en el centro de Auckland. La cama de la habitación era demasiado blanda para mi gusto.

If you use Google Maps, remember to select the pedestrian path for directions. Otherwise, it may guide you to an abandoned house. The view from the dining room was nice, but we found some short blond hairs on the bed. We weren't too concerned about it, but others might be. The breakfast is quite Western—bread and jam, with milk or yogurt. It's a nice place, suitable for a short nap before takeoff. Nearby Saddle Hill is a great spot for viewing the Southern Lights if the timing is right. You could also ask John for local tips—he might know the best viewing spots. I recently stayed at Scenic Hotel Southern Cross and had a very pleasant experience. The check-in and check-out process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making the entire stay hassle-free. The room was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space to relax after a day of exploring the city. Another plus is the on-site hotel parking, which is a great convenience, especially in a central location like this. Overall, I’d recommend Scenic Hotel Southern Cross for anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel in Dunedin with friendly service and all the essentials covered.

Such a lovely stay with my partner, all staff were very friendly and accommodating. Such a nice place to stay, rooms were so clean and beyond beautiful!

The layout was practical and suitable for both short and longer stays, with ample space to move around and relax. One of the biggest advantages was how easy the place was to locate. Clear directions and a convenient location made check-in smooth and stress-free, especially after a long journey. The surrounding area was also quiet and pleasant, allowing for a restful stay. Cleanliness was clearly a priority, from the rooms to the common areas, which we truly appreciated. Overall, this accommodation offers great comfort, convenience, and value. We would definitely recommend it to others and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

El hotel es muy antiguo y todo está bien. Pero la ubicación es excelente, justo en el Octagon, muy cerca de la Catedral de San Pablo. Puedes caminar a la Primera Iglesia, el Museo de Otago, la Universidad de Otago y la estación de ferrocarril de Dunedin. La calle Baldwin está a 15 minutos en coche del hotel.

Unfortunately, my stay was not very comfortable. The soundproofing is very poor, and there is a nightclub nearby that plays very loud music late into the night, making it difficult to sleep. For those who drive, can park on the roadside across the street for free after 6pm. In addition, the shower water pressure was very low, which was disappointing.
