It was a great stay at this ryokan! The hotel is able to arrange a car to fetch you from the JR station. You can call them using a dedicated phone at the station which is used to contact the different ryokans. The car arrived in 10mins or so. The ride to the ryokan was also less than 10mins. The hotel also fetched us to the station on the last day of our stay. The ryokan itself is homely and cozy. We were greeted by an english speaking staff who introduced us to the amenities of the ryokan. There was also a nice welcome tea and matcha chocolate. Our bags were brought to our room as well during this time. The room is spacious and cozy. The hotel prepared 2 welcome biscuits in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room has a nice living room and a great view of Lake Biwa. Recommend to catch the sunrise over the lake! There are 2 normal beds as well as futon beds (need to set up yourself). Both are comfortable. The hotel also prepared pretty yukata for both female and male guests which you can wear during the stay. There are 4 different designs for ladies, and one design for the guys. You can request for different size if the one in the room doesn’t fit you. There is also a full length mirror and a mini dressing area at the side of the living room. It was fun dressing up in the yukata! The toilet, basin, shower and hot tub areas are all separate. The toilet is a little small, but the basin and mirror area is very spacious. The shower area is quite small as well and the shower head is rather low so you need to hold the shower head if you wish to wash up while standing. There is a small stool given for you to sit down though. The hot tub area is semi-outdoor and you can see Lake Biwa. But it is quite small (only good for one person). It was too cold so we didn’t use the hot tub. Instead, we booked the private onsen for 50mins. The private onsen has a private toilet and dressing area which is equipped with hairdryer, body lotion etc. There is a water dispenser as well if you need to hydrate yourself. The onsen area has a washing area, and the hot tub area is spacious for 2 person. There are privacy screens around the onsen area but there is a small gap to let in cold air for ventilation. Wish there is a good view from the private onsen but it was still enjoyable! Dinner and breakfast was Kaiseki style, and the meals were one of the highlights for my husband and I. We really enjoyed the courses which are clean tasting yet wholesome, fresh and flavourful. It was such a sumptuous treat! The ryokan also has a souvenir shop if you wish to buy anything back. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the stay here and we agreed this was one of the main highlights of our 12 days trip in Japan. Highly recommend!

No podía hablar japonés, pero podía sentir que tratan a todos los clientes en serio. Incluso en el hotel, el hotel de la ciudad de la ciudad se encuentra en el centro de la ciudad. Me recibí un recuerdo del hotel cuando sirvieron el dessert. El hotel está ocupado, pero no veo mucha gente, quizás todos se queden en sus habitaciones. La experiencia para mí fue excepcional cuando me desperté a las 6:00, testigo del hermoso levantamiento del sol justo fuera de la gran ventana, y vi un águila pasando por mi cámara cuando intentaba capturar ese momento. En el hotel, el hotel se encuentra en una zona de la ciudad, donde se encuentra el centro de la ciudad.

What we love: The onsen, the nightly free happy hour, and the amazing breakfast Location is pretty good. Nice lakeside views, near the old town, and quiet. If you drive, there is ample parking but it does get quite full when we were there mid Dec 2024, this means more locals visit than tourists. We used it as a base for visiting nearby ski resorts such as GranSnow and Biwako (roughly 60-90mins drive). It's about a 10-15min drive to the city centre where you can find an abundance of food and shopping! The room is quite spacious, has a great view of Lake Biwa, and generally comfortable and cosy. The breakfast is fantastic, quite a spread although I wished they changed some of the items more frequently. The onsen is big, and we enjoyed it every single night. The best was the homemade barley drink they served-simply Oishi! Not to mention a nightly nightcap of free booze, soft drinks and snacks available at the lobby from 7pm till 10/11pm. Nice way to wind down. This hotel has a old-style, somewhat luxe, chillout, laid-back vibe, where you can really hang out if you like, at your own pace. Highly recommended.

It offers free parking for guests and complimentary bike rentals, making it easy to explore the scenic lakeside paths and nearby attractions. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing recommendations for local sights, such as the historic Enryaku-ji Temple. Lake Biwa Hotel is a fantastic choice for a peaceful getaway. With stunning views, comfortable accommodations, and great amenities, I highly recommend it for a relaxing escape.

Tras una ciudad con una gran cantidad de Kioto, me encanta el ambiente tranquilo y tranquilo de este hermoso hotel-ryokan y encantador castillo. Es sólo un 7-8min a pie de la estación de tren Hikone, pero hay un transbordador de hotel que sale a las 9, 10 y 11 si necesitas una caída. El hotel ofrece una terraza externa con vistas al castillo, un spa en el lugar con masaje, un salón de biblioteca con bebidas gratuitas hasta las 10:00, un ángulo de reflexión de pies y un cepillo compacto con baño de seda (todo con vistas al castillo) y calientes a pie. La habitación de la habitación era muy agradable, pero la habitación era muy agradable. El desayuno buffet fue también uno de los mejores que he visto en mis viajes a Japón. La carretera principal del castillo está a unos 5-10 min, pero pasará por una famosa fábrica japonesa, Taneya y Club Harie. Sus recuerdos son uno que incluso el japonés querría. Me gustaría volver aquí un día con mi compañero. Gracias por la estancia maravillosa.

I have never seen such poorest service at reception counter. Our three families joined at this hotel and wanted to know room number each other. Reception counter stuffs refused our request. We believe that if customers agree each other to disclose their room number, no problem at all. Quite disgusting attitude!

El ambiente de la habitación era agradable, pero había mucho cabello que parecía pertenecer a mujeres en la habitación, así que no podía decir que fuera muy higiénico. Mi pareja y yo disfrutamos muchísimo de nuestra estancia en el Hotel Biwako. Todas las habitaciones dan al hermoso lago Biwako y la vista era perfecta. Incluso nevó una de las mañanas que estuvimos allí. El personal fue genial y siempre amable, incluso cuando había una pequeña barrera lingüística. También probamos su desayuno, que estaba realmente bueno. Recomiendo encarecidamente alquilar sus bicicletas eléctricas y pasear en bicicleta por el lago durante la puesta de sol. ¡Y también hacer el crucero por el lago Biwako! El onsen del hotel también es maravilloso, definitivamente volveremos.

Nos quedamos dos noches en el hotel con desayuno y cena. La página web de Trip.com mostró que había un ron en el hotel, pero cuando se nos ingresó, nos dijeron que era un ”error”. Es muy desapontado que la Trip.com incluya fotos irrelevantes para el hotel. La cena también fue diferente de la foto web. Cada uno debe pagar 2500 yens para actualizar la cena a shsbu shabu. El desayuno es estilo japonés con una selección limitada. Además de estos, teníamos la vista del lago y el centro comercial está cerca de las ventajas.
